Can clogged arteries heal?

Hello,

I had a stroke a few years ago and have been taking plavix since.

My question is this, I have changed my life completly and all of my blood work is now perfect without medication, is it possible that my clogged arteries can or have healed?

Can clogged arteries heal?
I doubt it, but I am no doctor.

I was diagnosed with clogged arteries a little over two years ago. I took Plavix for three months then got off of it when I asked my doctor if I could since I passed the stress test I took with flying colors and my blood test was fine except for slightly higher than suggested cholesterol levels, especially the hdl/ldl ratio. My heart doctor said I didn't need Plavix anymore, in fact it was a cautionary step until I took the stress test.

I started taking Lipitor, but only took it for two months, then stopped. I was taking policosanol and it was working to keep my cholesterol count well below 200. However over time it seemed to cease working and over about 18 months my cholesterol count plus the ldl/hdl ratios stopped improving like originally when I started. I took a blood test a month and a half ago and my cholesterol was at 213. My doctor advised me to take Vytorin which I reluctantly did and amazingly it brought the count down to 115 in one month. I am still taking it after two months.

I asked my other doctor whether my clogged arteries could be cleared with oral chelation therapy and he was noncommittal. He didn't think so, but as a MD that was expected. He also refrained from answering my question if that would hurt me in any way. He said he knew of no way to clear clogged arteries except via surgery.

I have also been eating low fat foods, no transfat foods and generally healthy foods since I found out my arteries (to the heart) were clogged. I also exercise virtually every day.

Oh one more thing, my doctor who prescribed the Vytorin told me that if one is taking the statin drugs that over time they will clear your arteries. He said that happens over several years of using those drugs. He is relatively young and mentioned he is also taking a statin drug. I asked my other doctor (mentioned above about the clogged arteries) about that and he never heard of those drugs clearing the arteries. Until I have seen or read of such a thing as the statin drugs clearing the arteries I am afraid I don't believe that.

If you do get a positive answer as to whether your arteries can heal themselves please let me know. you can contact me via the contact form on my www.luckydomainlist.com site.
Reply:LOW FAT DIET ARE UNNECESSARY .

Saturated fat did NOT clog anything

It is a PERFECTLY NATURAL AND HEALTHY SUBSTANCE WE HAVE EATEN FOR 2.6 MILLION YEARS WITH GREAT BENEFIT

Statin drugs do show SOME benefit, althoug greatly exxagerated in patients WITH CORONARY DISEASE BUT HIS SLIGHT BENEFIT HAS NOTHING , NOTHING TO DO WITH CHOLESTEROL LOWERING

AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THEIR PLEIOTROPIC EFFECTS

ANTI BLOOD CLOTTING ANTI SPASM ANTI INFLAMATORY
Reply:It is possible to reduce the blockage. I would not say your are healed. You need to have some tests done to see what are the percentages now.
Reply:NO!!!!!! drink more water and eat less salty foods.
Reply:According to my cardiologist, the only non-surgical way to reverse artery blockage is the Ornish diet. (cf. Dean Ornish).

It is an extreme program, read for yourself about it on the link below. Congratulations on your good changes and good health.
