Kitchen sink clogged. what products could i use?
drano works very well on cloggs.
Reply:If you have a clogged drain and cannot run out to the store to get a commercial drain product, try this remedy.

1) Remove all water from the sink. You may have to dip it out of the sink with a cup and place it in a bucket.

2) Pour one cup of baking soda down the drain.

3) Follow that with one cup of table salt.

4) Next, pour one half cup of white vinegar down the drain.

5) Allow the drain to set for ten minutes than flush it with two quarts of boiling water...
Reply:Draino works very well with clogged sinks, thats what I use when this happens.
Reply:See Tayle's answer. Plus after you empty the sink, remove the U bend underneath. Flush that with boiling water( over another sink/bath/toilet. The replace and continue as above.
Reply:Go out and buy a drain snake. You can get a 25ft snake for about $20
Reply:hey, i remembered a camercal that showed this two in 1 thing. i forgot what it was called, but yah. srry if this answer dosnt help, but if i remember it i will let u know.
Reply:drano works very well.

How do I remove a clog from the drain?

I have a hair clog in my shower drain. I stopped using my shower and just started showering at my moms or my bf's house. However, she still shower and shaves there. The hair is just piling up and getting worse. How can I break up that clog without paying for a plumber because I can't afford it?

How do I remove a clog from the drain?
If it is really clogged up badly, I don't know whether this would work or not. The lady who assists with my housework introduced me to banking soda and vinegar. Her instructions are to put baking soda in the drain and pour vinegar over it. If that doesn't work, I am sure places like Home Depot and Lowe's have solutions for it. Good luck.
Reply:Pour half-a-bottle of clorox into it. It should dissolve whatever crap is clogging your pipes.
Reply:There is a product called Drano.

All you have to do is pour a cup full of Drano into your pipe and leave it for 10 mins or so then rinse out..
Reply:I used to be a plumber, there are many options. The best is to take the drain cover off, and put a hook in the end of a coathanger and stick it down... try to hook that hairball. Another option is to pour coca cola down there, the phosphoric acid will dissolve the calcium in the hair overnight like it dissolves your teeth and intestinal lining. Another great option if those don't work, oxy clean breaks down organics and may aid in breaking it up, draino will only shrink and harden it to the pipe walls, but extreme pressure may shove it along, air or water, you may try a garden hose on it. Boiling water from the stove will dissolve the grease from the soap that has bonded the hair, rubbing alcohol may also. Well if you still don't get it write mikefromspace at yahooooo
Reply:Caustic Soda will do the trick. Good luck.

Kitchen Sink Clogged?

My kitchen sink is clogged, every time I run the garbage disposal it will come up on both sides. The only thing that went down the disposal was mac and cheese. My husband put some drain remover down and said it didn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks

Kitchen Sink Clogged?
snake it
Reply:where's the clog?

if you just run water in the sink, does it go down?

if yes, then the clog is in the disposal or the line connecting it to the sink.

(i doubt that the problem is in the disposal, but it doesn't hurt to check.)

if water stays in the sink, you could use a plunger in the sink.

you'll have to plug up the disposal while you do it, so that air does not come up and down through the disposal.

just put something over the hole, or in the top of the hole -- you don't want to lose a dishcloth down into the disposal.

put water in the sink until it backs up, then use the plunger.

(I'd use hot soapy water.)

it might be a good idea to check the trap first, and make sure it's tight.

if it's not, or if it's weak, using the plunger can break it or pop it off.

i'd put a bucket under it so that if there is a problem, you catch the water and not spew it on the floor.

when you use the plunger, if you bring up large wads of yucky stuff, maybe like hair, get a paper towel, fish 'em out, and put 'em in the trash. in the future, when you're putting stuff down the sink, think about whether it might cause a clog. you might also keep in mind that a sink clog is easiest to fix. if it gets farther down in the plumbing, then you'll have to call a plumber, and pay to get it fixed. (when this means is, "Be kind to your plumbing." it's very forgiving, but it does have it's limits.)

i personally don't like drain remover. it cannot be good for your pipes.

good luck.
Reply:You might need a wet vac to suck out anything in the sink that hasn't gone through the disposal yet. Check the trap underneath the sink and remove any clogs. You might also need a drain snake. You can get one for like $10 at Home Cheapo.
Reply:well noodles, rice, stuff lke tha is the worst for drains. especally if they are dry. they expand and clog the drain. then when you run a snake thru the line the noodles are like sand. the snake goes thru and comes back out not movng the noodles as if you put a finger in sand when you take it out the hole refills itself. call a plumber
Reply:take the pipes under sink apart, try not to get burned or hurt by the drain chemical you poured into the sink. if the clog is not in these pipes you will have 2 choices. rent a drain snake or hire a plumber to snake it for you. caution, by the time people call me to fix their sink drains, they have wasted money on drain cleaners, super plungers, snake rentals, i actually would have saved them money, time, and a huge mess if they would have called me and quoted me first.
Reply:Don't use drain opener in a garbage disposer, it will dull your blade by corroding them. Use a plunger Have someone hold the other sink plug and plung as much pressure back and forth and pull and pop the last plung. Try and pour boiling hot water down it a few times before and after it opens. Watch out for splashing, wear eye and hand protection because of the acid in the drain opener
Reply:don't use draino type products in the garbage disposer, dishwasher, or toilet! don't you read the instructions before you use things? and another thing, don't put pasta or potato peels or grease down the disposer in any quanities! it will fill the drain pipes and cause a clog as you've found out. either the hubbie or a plumber will have to take the drain pipes apart and clean out the drain now.
Reply:have hubbie remove the P trap, your mac-n-cheez is prob stuck in there! while the trap is off and if nothing is in it then you can run a stiff wire further down the drain. if that doesn't work then you must snake the whole line.

Severe skin discoloration due to clogged pores. HELP!?

I went through a period of terrible self-hygene, and it resulted in me being left with a "ring" around my neck, that was from dirt and oils being ground into my skin,in the style of how blackheads happen. there ARE NOT blackheads, and cannot be popped. it appears as though i have taken dirt and smeared it around the circumfrence of my neck. my nose is soemwhat the same,i basicly have every pore on it clogged. i have tried and failed to get rid of the clogged pores on my nose, and though the skin on my neck IS lightening, its still quite noticible. aside from washing every day, using astringent, cleanser blahblahblah, have you got any ideas oh how to help? i really want my hair supershort, but cannot get the courage to do so untill this problem is taken care of.

and i dont have alot of money to go buying pricey stuff, and before you say it,proactive IS too expensive for me.

Severe skin discoloration due to clogged pores. HELP!?
First of all, start a regimen you will stick with. Cleansing, and exfoliating. Morning and night. Facials are a beautiful thing, but I understand you don't have the money right now. Even steaming in the shower while exfoliating will help. Doing extractions on yourself is not a good idea, you can scar if you don't know what your doing. Stick to this and I think over a period of time you will see a difference. You already know the problem, this is the first step.
Reply:Go to your dermatologist. They have meds to un colg pores and they have machines to do it.

And what have we learned from this?

WASH YOURSELF
Reply:The best thing to dissolve the ick in pores is a product with salicylic acid in the highest % concentration you can find. Using this along with regular exfoliation with a scrub or the pricier microdermabrasion will correct and prevent your issue.

You can go to any drugstore and find products with salicylic acid, the problem is that they will cost less because they have a lower acid concentration than products that cost more so you will be better off investing a little more in something that works than spending less on something that won't do the job.

I like the self-foaming cleansing treatment by Beauticontrol for $25 along with All-clear scrub for $14. These will last about two months.
Reply:Unfortunately my brother has this too. That ring around his neck, quite disgusting at times but it's better because he has a tan now. I would have to say... Go get a facial. Facials run from 25-40 dollars on average. You go once every two weeks. But the previous answer was right, try to go to a dermatologist. He/She may be able to give you some creams to help. Retin-A might help. Retin-A causes dry skin but that's because your skin is pushing out all the bad stuff, purging your pores and after a while it will get better. It takes persistance though. Good luck!
Reply:Neutrogena makes some very good products to unlcog pores, and also exfoliate dead top cells from the skin; making fresh new skin appear. Get on their site and take a look around at what is available; it is not expensive and should work within a month or so. It is sold at most drug stores.

Would a clogged filter on a furnace cause the high limit gasket to break?

They charged us a good deal of money to fix our furnace today and said it would not be covered by warranty as the clogged filter caused the problem. Can anyone in the know confirm? Thanks

Would a clogged filter on a furnace cause the high limit gasket to break?
yes a plugged filter will take out a high limit switch, it will drastically shorten the life of your furnace, can and will break heat exchangers---all of this is not covered by warranties because YOU are expected to A change the filter yourself, of B pay a contractor to do it for you
Reply:If you mean they replaced the high limit control, yes that could be caused by nor cleaning or replacing the filter. A furnace requires some routine maintenance to prevent this. For more info, check out the furnace page at my source.
Reply:It is possible that the reduced airflow arising from the dirty filter caused the plenum to overheat, cracking the gasket. But replacing a gasket should be cheap.

Left Ear Clogged - ENT wasn't helpful?

My left ear is muffled. I can still hear through it, it just sounds "duller". My ENT did an audiology test showing this. They cleaned the ear and it still is muffled. I did not know this ENT, and he seemed quick to dismiss my symptoms. He "guessed" it could be scarring tissue, but i'm a 20 year old male, and this only occurred last week. It feels like it would if you had a head cold and it's clogged up. When I yawn or swallow I can feel my "inner ear"/"sinus" trying to pop it but it won't, like it's not enough. I've tried Nasex, but it's not working. I'm thinking about going to another ENT or an internal medicine doctor. Any ideas?

Left Ear Clogged - ENT wasn't helpful?
sounds like you got some fluid in your ear.It might go away on its own
Reply:Your ear could actually be clogged i get those symptoms all the time. I go to my doctor and she just flushes them out. It may not be the problem but those are similar symptoms. Just get a second opinion!
Reply:Yes, I have the same problem now (and in my left ear as well) as I have before! Go to a general practioner, (do you have a family doctor) and tell them what you are experiencing. I would just about garauntee that it is wax build up in your ear, and although a bit "uncomfortable" a gp will remove that wax and you will hear good as new! ENTs get paid too much to admit it is something that simple and only want to deal with money making cases! Go to a GP, a family doc or just a regular medical doc and you'll be surprised by how much they help you!
Reply:I'd get a second opinion.

There are different types of viruses that effect the ear and can cause hearing loss. At times even, nothing actually shows up! There are also diseases caused by viral infections that effect the middle ear like minears disease and such.

How can i fix my clogged kitchen sink?

My kitchen sink is clogged! it has a garbage disposal..i think its clogged from all the food we've put down there over time as i see some tiny bit of food come back up and some black tiny dust...out of no where the water will rise back up and start overflowing out of the sink. I've trained using Drain-O (the liquid plumber stuff) with no success..I called a plumber and he estimated it would cost around $200.00 to fix which i just can't afford. any help would be greatly appreciated.

How can i fix my clogged kitchen sink?
remove the P trap, rod the line.

I hope you learned from the draino not working, because NO liquid "drain cleaner" actually works, it's all HYPE and MARKETING!
Reply:The waste is trapped in the P-trap, the black dust is mold living on the debris. Boil a gallon of water on the stove pour it down the drain, boil another gallon and pour it down the disposal side, then pour a cup of bleach down each side.
Reply:Try this link for instructions and photos of how to clean drains in the kitchen. The equipment costs very little so it won't hurt to try. http://www.rd.com/content/openContent.do...
Reply:you should call your plumber and ask if he accepts payments. I do but I am in Ca if your in The bay area my company could help. You are just going to keep having the same problem. Now ask your home owners association if they own the drainage pipes. sounds like your on a lower level and everytime the upper unit uses the kitchen it will back up in your sink because water travels the path of least resistance. your lower so it comes out of your sink. if you have no one living above you but have upper water fixtures. you could not use them until you have cleared the line. you will need to have it snaked. liquid plumber only works on hair and not very good on that
Reply:Since you already added the draino i wouldnt advise plunging because you can receive splash back of the chemical and it could get into your eyes ect.If you didnt want to hire someone the only other thing you can do is get a bucket and bail out the water in the sink and take off the P trap and drain out the rest of the water.I would also get a small canister snake and snake further back to force anything out. Then put the trap back on(hopefully no seals get broke. and then flush it with hot water. That should do the trick.
Reply:I just got done unclogging my kitchen sink which has two drains too it. At first I used Liquid Plumber which softened up the slug in the trap. Then I poured hot water down and cleaned the trap out. However, the water still backed up but would gradually drain out of the sink. After an hour I took a bucket and I put it under the trap (the u-joint part of the pipe that can be removed) and emptied out any liquids. Be careful because there may still be some of the initial chemical in there. I used gloves. The water will splash out when you remove the u-joint part of the pipe so do it slowly so it does not spray all over.

The next part is where I had to buy a small auger(mine cost around $25 and was in a case that allowed me to rotate it) and thread it through the part of the pipe going into the wall and attached to the other part of the drain. I could feel some clogs which were easily removed with a few twist of the auger. After that I had a small separate PVC pipe I bought at the hardware store that had a bend in it. This pipe fit in where the U-shape pipe went and allowed me to pour some more Liquid Draino into that part of the pipe. After pouring the chemical in I poured a glass of water in to flush it into the pipe. Be careful if you decide to do this because the Draino will foam back up out of the small pipe.

This process did clean the pipe out. However, all the slug that was in the pipe ended up in my basement sink and clogging it up. Which I'm working on at the moment. Oh well, at least it is slowly making it's way out of the house.....lol Good luck.
Reply:ok do this

if it is a double sink

cover with a wet rag the other sink drain hole, ask someone to press real hard and then use the plunger on the other side.

1st cover all the sink hole where the garbage disposal is with the plunger

2nd push the plung all the way down

3rd pull hard once

*ps dont plunged to many times and fast at once, you may get stuff on ur face

turn the garbage disposal, only if it does not splashes any water

if it is still clogged, do those steps again

it keeps doing that cause if u keep using the other side of the sink, the water is not going all the way down, remember, pipes are blocked

Is the clogged toilet because the distance or maybe the pitch?

a couple times a year our basement toilet doesn't want to flush. when we use the upstairs toilet or shower it makes noise in the basement toilet. if we use the washer thats in the basement the water won't drain down the sewer it comes back out the washer pipe and all over the floor. we have check the stack vent and nothing we have snaked it with an elec snake and the clog is not in the house. so then we call a plumber and they snake it from the house to the road and that works for a few months then we are right back to square one. we did have a camera run in the home and the plumber said that the pitch was wrong cause there was water sitting in the pipes and there shouldn't be. we also had another plumber tell us because the distance from the house to the road was so far that we would have to put a pump station in ($14,000.00) could it be that the pitch from the house to the road is wrong our house is about 120 ft from the rd. is there a better (cheaper) solution.

Is the clogged toilet because the distance or maybe the pitch?
Pitch should not be greater than 1/4" per foot and no less than 1/8" per foot. It does not matter how far it has to travel as long as pitch is correct. So that means from your basement to the road 120 ft away it would have to drop a total of 15'-31' depending on where it exits your basement. If your pipe is holding water then it is not pitched enough. A pump would definately help and probably solve the problem or you could try having a new sewer line dug which should be way cheaper.
Reply:Hey Bud,

If your draining but water is standing. you have a piping problem. Most times " your sewer elevation at the Tap is much lower than where your building sewer is connected".

Most times the city set up a 6" tap off the sewer line and the plumber connected to it.. I would check with the city and ask for "as built" drawing information to determine the depth..

You need to re-pipe the drain to the tap but make sure you have the information you need first. 4" pipe can be installed at a percentage of grade( almost flat.

The most important thing when installing the new piping....MAKE SURE ITS BEDDED SOLID. If it means bringing in some sand do it. Check the drain elevation at the home and find the elevation at the tap.

Good Luck

Oldguy
Reply:It definetly sounds the pitch is wrong, the affluent is staying in the pipe and not reaching the main sewer, so all I can suggest is that you extra flush it, in between uses, to get extra water, to move anything that is taking its time along the pipe.

Who knows it might help.

Clogged kitchen sinks- how do i ise a snake to unclog the steel pipe? what causes the clogging of the pipe?
Kitchen sinks usually clog pretty close to the sink. Most of the time it's due to cheaper low horse power garbage disposals. They don't chop the food up enough and then the food get's in the drain and expands with the water and cause a blockage. Potato peelings and pasta are the biggest culprits.

Sometime you can use a shop-vac to suck the stuff out.
Reply:First of, what do you mean by removing all the pvc back to the iron pipe? Do you mean you took off the trap? What kind of a snake do you have?

The best way to do it typically is getting a chemical drain opener either hotshot, or pequa. Run that first and then flush with cold water. Assuming you took everything off, what kind of snake are you using? Go to a local plumbing supply, screw homedepot and lowes, pick up a snake for fifty bucks. Every snake comes with a 25' cable. thats plenty of slack. The secret is that you feed the snake into the drain with your hands. That way you feel the clog because you cant break through it. Once youve reached the clog thats when you turn the snake. You might have to take out the tailpiece, or even the trap, either way it only helps. chances are its not as far back as you think. Another reminder is that since the house is from the fifties remember that land moves and so does the house on it. So a stubborn clog could also be a pipe's lack of pitch, so to speak, gravity is not pulling the water down. Well, hope that was helpful.
Reply:The cause could be many things. For example, food could have went down the drain and caused a blockage over time.

To use the snake simply stick it in and spin it.

You will either retreive the blockage or push it into a main sewer line, which is larger and will still flow with whatever was blocking the kitchen drain up.

Left Ear Clogged....But Will Pop!?

My left ear suddenly became clogged when I woke up a few days ago. It will pop when I blow air through it. There doesn't seem to be water in it and I haven't been sick....I just woke up this way yesterday. I tried a mixture of Hydrogen Peroxide and Water it did nothing. Tried a little Alcohol as well. Can't hear any water sounds in it. Also tried decongestant. Thanks.

Left Ear Clogged....But Will Pop!?
its probably wax. i get this problem myself. go to the doctor and tell them to flush your ears. he will squirt water of a little hose on a spray bottle into your ear and it was blast all that muck out. its pretty gross what comes out of your ear, but at least you will be able to hear again. it is probably one of the most relieving things i have ever done just becasue it is so instantaneous.
Reply:Go to a doctor to see if there is a blockage or rupture of any kind. There are over the counter ear cleaner kits. You put like four or five drops of this solution in your ear, let it sit for a minute with your head tilted, and the flush warm water with this little thing that looks like an enema. It may not take one use to break up whatever is in there.

Toilet paper clogging the toilet, help??!!?

My 2 year old found her way into the bathroom and decided to bunch up a ton of toilet paper and flush, needless to say, my toilet is clogged now...any suggestions and is it ok to use a DRANO-like unclogger?

Toilet paper clogging the toilet, help??!!?
When you don't have an plunger, or drano, or a toilet auger, you can unclog a toliet with basic household items, baking soda %26amp; vinegar. Pour two cups of baking soda into the water (slowly to avoid toilet water splashing), and then slowly start pouring in vinegar. The mixture will start to bubble up. Stop pour when the mixture starts to rise, and continue this technique for about 15 mintues (starting and stoping)...my toddler is fasinated by the process. The combination will slowly disinegrate the paper. After about 15 minutes, walk away and wait. Usually with in another 15 - 30 minutes the clog will clear up and the water will flush itself.

YES, this takes a LONG TIME, but it is enviromentally safe, it won't scratch your toilet like auger, and you don't need arm power to operate that plunger well enough.
Reply:Go buy a toilet auger at home depot it works great and will most likely get the job done
Reply:A plunger is usually the best bet. If that doesnt work, you could use your hand to get most of the mess out, as far down as you can go :(. Then try the plunger. You can always wash after. The next step would be to call a plumber.

Drano probably wouldnt do much, because it is designed to cleanse the pipes of scum and buildup, not solids like TP.
Reply:Drano isn`t the best option. A good plunger with a good seal should push it through. You can also use a snake to clear it. You might even need a different toilet that has more pressure.

Boxer has clogged tear ducts?

Our boxer always get eye goomers. Lately {past week} his eyes have stayed a little swollen and he has been getting yellow eye goomers pretty bad. could he have clogged ducts that have gotten infected?

Boxer has clogged tear ducts?
Yellow discharge is not good,,probably has eye infection. Some dogs after numerous eye infections are found to be without tear ducts. This has been happening with greater frequency lately and save yourself some $$$, ask your vet to check those tear ducts thoroughly. It is also becoming common in K C Cavalier Spaniels. See if you can get the ointment instead of the drops. The ointment 'sticks' a bit better than the 'hit or miss' drops. Any yellow discharge is a sign of illness, you need to get him to a vet ASAP.

Good luck, and dont forget to exercise the heck out of that guy---talk about a bundle of boundless, bouncing energy!!!! Woof.
Reply:Take him to the vet you should had taken him to the vet as soon as you saw his eyes getting swallon he can be in a alot of pain.

Question about clogged pores....?

I notice a lot of clogged pores when I look at my skin closely in the mirror. These are not zits, they have not formed a white head in anyway but I can see a bit of discoloration in the pore, sometimes even a blackhead. I squeeze these habitually and can get junk to come out but I think this might be a bad idea. I have been doing this for years and I am starting to notice that my pores seem a bit enlarged. Again, nothing noticable unless I look closely in the mirror. Is it possible I am squeezing stuff out of my pores that in meant to be in there? What is this stuff anyway? If it is not meant to be in there, any suggestions on getting it out other than squeezing? I wash my face at least once a day, any other remodies?

Question about clogged pores....?
For daily use:

Pore Unclogging Scrub. Help your pores breathe a little easier. Oil-free formula exfoliates better than ever to give you the unclogging power you want without the irritation. Gentle enough for daily use. (Or for periodic pore unclogging, use several times weekly to get smooth and radiant skin.) You can buy this almost anywhere. i.e (walmart, Walgreen's, target, CVS pharmacy) The local quick stops.

OR

Warming Anti- Fire away at blackheads. With a new deep cleansing formula, including light exfoliates, Biore® Warming Anti-Blackhead Cream Cleanser cleans five times better than any other warming cleanser while leaving skin fresh and smooth.Blackhead Cream Cleanser.

-I use both of these products and I assure you they work great!! My face feels very clean and fresh after I use these products.

Reply:For daily use, try Philosophy's Purity Made Simple (facial soap) and Hope in a Jar (moisturizer). For weekly or bi-weekly exfoliation, try their Microdelivery Peel. Since I started using these products, I've gotten several compliments on my skin. You can find them at sephora.com.
Reply:That happens to me too...white stuff comes out of tons of my pores...I heard that it's oil or dirt or something.
Reply:I know this will gross some people out but I use organic egg yolks on my face every day to help cleanse, and I haven't had any problems with pores or blemishes since. You just put a thin layer of the yolk over your face and wait for it to dry (about 5 min.) then rinse with cold water.
Reply:I do the same thing! It's a really bad habbit though. The oozy gross stuff that comes out is a collection of dead skin cells, sebum and bacteria that is caught in the pore. Your pores could be clogged for many reasons. You're either really stressed or you probably don't wash your face enough. And seeing that you only wash it once a day, I reccomend you wash your face once in the morning at once at night. If you are active, then you might want to consider using those oil strips that you can get at the drugstore for $3-4. I use Neutregina stress control, and that works really well. For best results wash your face with that in the shower. The steam from the shower opens up your pores, and you can easily clean them out with face wash! Another tip is use a facemask! Wear one at night before you go to bed, some you can rinse off with warm water, or you can even sleep with them. But those are awesome, they really open your pores up and cleans them out! I hope that helped! GOOD LUCK (:

Does vaseline clog pores?

i use vaseline nightly and i was wondering if it will clog my pores.

Does vaseline clog pores?
Vaseline is a bleached petroleum product, originally developed from the sludge that forms on an oil rig. Why use it at all? Clog your pores? Yep, and deposits chemical residues that will likely be absorbed into your body like a dermal patch on a nicotine freak.

Try this instead:

A few drops of light oil, such as sunflower, olive, hemp, jojoba will work pretty much everywhere.

For deeper moisturizer with heavy protection, use a bit of solid oil such as coconut, palm or shea butter. Best to prevent winter-dry lips.

Check my profile for more info.
Reply:I am sitting here looking at my bottle of Vaseline and on the label it says 100% non-comedogenic. On the label if it says that it will NOT clog your pores, then it definitely won't. Otherwise they'd have to change their label. If you want to know more about Vaseline you should watch the episode of Tyra Banks where she says it is her beauty secret and that she uses it for absolutely everything, lips, hand cream, moisturizer, etc.
Reply:I dont think so.I use it nightly around my eyes,i love Vaseline=)
Reply:No, it doesn't clog the pores. In fact quite a few people, also famous ones , use it, though for most find it too greasy to put on the face.

Reply:probably. does it say it doesn't?
Reply:If the make up is oil based, then yes, it does clog your pores. Go for water based / healthy ingredient makeup. It cost about the same or less than branded ones anyways.

Kitchen sink clogged with grease. How to unclog?

Last night I browned a pound of hamburger and put a bowl into the sink to drain the grease into. The bowl spilled and now my sink is clogged. It is bad weather and I don't want to go out to the store. Is there anything other than Liquid Plumber or Drano that I could use? Maybe something I already have on hand?

Kitchen sink clogged with grease. How to unclog?
It's likely that the trap under the sink is clogged. Place a bucket under it and disconnect it from the piping. This will get rid of a lot of the grease anyways. Reconnect the trap. Then you can run hot water down the drain. I would recommend an enzyme drain cleaner such as DrainCare by Zep. This can be used safely in all drainage systems. Hair, grease and soap scum build up in drainlines. An enzyme cleaner clings to and "eats" organic matter. I use this monthly and have no drain problems.
Reply:Dump a boiling pot of water into the sink. Also get an enzyme septic treatment at the grocery store to help dissolve, especially if you have a septic tank.
Reply:Got any Washing Soda? Try dissolving with that.Or, you could connect a short hose to your cold supply, wrap cloth around to create a seal, and pressure down the drain. You will need to block the overflow.
Reply:!!!~Listen this really really works!!!~

Break up 2 alka seltzers and poke in the drain. Now pour 1 cup vinegar down the drain. When the fizzing stops (about 3-5 minutes), run hot water ~ wah la OPEN DRAIN
Reply:Try really really hot water. If that does not work, you may have to use liquid plumber type stuff. If that is the case, I recommend something w / sulfuric acid in it.
Reply:You could try baking soda and vinegar, though it may not cut a lot of grease. Put about a cup of baking soda down your drain and then about 2 cups of vinegar. You will see the reaction and then flush with cold water.
Reply:Use very hot water which will melt the grease and keep pouring till uncloged.Been there done that.
Reply:if you know its grease put in some boiling water.

Nursing mom - clogged duct, lots of pain. Help!?

I got stuck in a meeting Friday and was one hour - just ONE HOUR - late pumping and now I have a clogged duct that won't get better. I've tried pressure massage, hot and cold compresses, nursing on that side exclusively, everything I've read about. Nothing is helping. I spent one full hour pumping and pressing yesterday to no avail. (Now my nipple hurts too, but that's another story.)

I work from about 9 to 4:30, and I pump three times a day for 15 minutes each time. The affected breast is only producing about 1.5 ounces each time, where it used to be good for at least 2.5 to 3. It feels marginally better after I pump, but then it only takes about 30 minutes to get really painful again.

It's hard to concentrate on work with this never-ending pain in my breast. Has anyone else been through this? What else can I do?

Nursing mom - clogged duct, lots of pain. Help!?
Ouch. Yes, I have been there. Keep at it, you need to make sure it doesn't develop into an infection. Just keep pumping and massaging. I would say don't pump for longer each time (1 hour is definitely too long) but try pumping on that side more frequently.

You can make a great compress by putting raw rice in a tube sock, and tying the end shut. Then you stick it in the microwave for a few minutes, and it feels great when you wrap it around your breast.

Good luck!
Reply:Thanks to everyone for the great answers.. Report It

Reply:you might have an infected duct that was got that way because of the clog. you have tried everything that ever worked for me so the next option you have would maybe be go to your doctor and see if it is more serious than a clogged duct. if it is infected you may need antibiotics to get rid of it. sorry i can't be more help than that
Reply:Sorry about the pain. It might be helpful to visit the doctors or midwife. Nipple cream can help to soothe the pain as well as pain killers. I think it is commendable that you are in work and still making the effort to breastfeed. Good on you!
Reply:Keep nursing and go to the doctor to make sure that it hasn't gotten an infection. It sounds like everything you are doing is what the doctor would tell you to do already. Take some tylenol for the pain since it is safe for baby.
Reply:Are you sure it's just a clogged duct and not mastitis?

See a doctor if it really is that bad.
Reply:Make sure you dont have Thrush, I had it and it was HELL.

pump before necessary.
Reply:You've already gotten some good advice (calling the doctor, hot shower with a manual pump, ibuprofen), but I just wanted to add one thing. Nurse your baby so that his or her chin is pointed toward the clogged duct. If doing so puts you in weird position, try laying baby down on your bed and position yourself on your hands and knees over him.
Reply:you have to call your Dr because if it is very painful you may have an infection..the Dr may prescribe some antibiotics for you and if it is too bad they will have to drain. It's call mastitis
Reply:Yes, and it is painful. What I use to do is take a warm shower. Let the water run over your breast and massage it at the same time. This will allow the excess milk to come out and it will be less painful. Then pump the rest out. If this doesn't work you need to pump longer to get that milk out. You may want to get checked out as well to be sure you haven't developed a breast infection.
Reply:I breastfeed to but thankfully this has never happened!!! I would call your dr. you may have an infection. I know this is probably painful, hope it gets better soon!!!
Reply:I have had many clogged ducts and boy do they hurt. If you are massaging that area while nursing and pumping and you are not getting any relief, I say call your Dr. Is the area around the clogged duct red and hot? If so, you could be getting an infection. Once the milk sets in there and is not expressed you can develop an infection and that can make you feel really bad, flu like symptoms and fever. If you catch it early they can give you antibiotics and you'll be feeling relief soon. If you wait to long you could develop an abscess. (I did and that was my worst nightmare, extremely hard to continue to nurse) Best of Luck,
Reply:You may need an antibiotic to clear it up- I did with my second breast infection- but not the first.

Use only hot water- and massage your breast from the top down to the nipple- and express milk that way. I did this in the bathtub and it helped with the first breast infection. Cold water will make your milk dry up as well as not help the infection.

Let your baby nurse on that side- but use warm compresses first to help your let down occur faster.

Call your doctor to see if you can have an antiobiotic to clear it up. Are you running a fever?

Good luck and use Motrin to help the pain. It's very, very painful and I feel for you!

Take care!
Reply:I have experienced the same thing. You could try soaking your breast in hot water and start from the top and squeeze down. It could also help to hand pump instead of using an electric one. If the pian lasts more than three to four days you may want to call your doctor. If its on one side try squeezing just on that side. I hope this helps, it worked for me.
Reply:I went through this when I had my son. Try pumping more often, but not for a full hour, just the same amount of time that you usually do. That helped me when all the other things failed. Also try taking Tylenol for the pain.
Reply:It seems like you are doing everything right but have you tried the electric pump? Maybe you should pump more than 3 times a day on that breast.
Reply:Wow, it sounds like you are doing everything you're supposed to. I had the same experience once. When it happened to me, my son and I took a day off and he nursed exclusively on that side every hour. Babies are much more efficent than pumps. Of course, this will only work if your baby cooperates and wants to nurse that much.

After about 6 hours of warm compresses and marathon nursing, the plugged duct cleared. I had a little redness and a slight fever so I was pretty close to full-blown mastitis. Since I caught it just in time, I was fine by the next morning.

If it is not red and you don't have a fever, don't take antibiotics. Then you'll get thrush and you'll be right back where you started with another nursing catastrophe.
Reply:I've had this exact thing happen to me a couple of times. I noticed it happened because I wore an underwire bra one night to go out (instead of my nursing bra). It seemed to take about 48 hours for the duct to unclog. Taking a warm shower definitely helps, but not practical if you are at work. Try keeping a warm compress on your breast. Wal-Mart sells one that is relatively thin and can be warmed in the microwave. I imagine you could "hide" it under your shirt while at work. Also, if possible, try pumping every hour to get as much milk out as possible. Chances are you do NOT have an infection. I'm not a doctor, but my doctor told me when I had the clogged duct that if it was infected I "would know" by chills, fever, major fatigue, etc. Good luck!
Reply:I had a clogged duct too - I know how painful it can be. However, mine actually ended up developing into mastitis - one of the causes is "milk stasis" or milk from a clogged duct backing up into the surrounding tissue. I knew it was infected because the pain was so bad that I could not sleep. Also, the next morning, I had red splotches on the breast. If you suspect an infection, contact your doctor immediately. You do not want it to turn into an abcess. (This can put you in the hospital for surgical drainage of the tissue.) I was able to pump and nurse through my course of antibiotics. My production in that breast did decrease, but I am still nursing successfully on both sides.

Good luck!

Really tough clog in shower drain.?

Ive tried everything with all the draino(poured it four times in the last week) and alll that stuff, but the clog is till there. Water goes through really slowly and sometimes so slowly that most of the water floats on top of the drain. I dont kno if i should call a plumber or not.

Really tough clog in shower drain.?
drano never works. or so i have been told by several plumbers and now i am married to one. your best bet is to "snake" the drain. take the drain cover off. you can find a "snake" at lowe's or home depot.
Reply:remove the drain strainer, and clear away all the hair.
Reply:remove the strainer and get what you can out of the drain then remove the drain plug itself the 2 screws on back of tub remove that put a rag in the pipe to keep air from getting in and plunge the drain keep going and eventually what ever is in there will back out.
Reply:After trying all the above, you can purchase a device that a garden hose attaches to. It has a small opening that allows water to flow, but if restricted, swells up and seals off the drain. But as it seals off the drain, the water continues to flow out the small hole, and builds up pressure in the drain line. Eventually, something will have to give....hopefully, it is your stopped up drain. I used it and had luck with a clogged lavatory sink.... You can buy it at a homecenter in the plumbing dept. It looks like a big pickel witha hose attachment at one end, and a small diameter hole at the other.
Reply:Remove the strainer from the top of the drain, use some soft wire with a hook on the end to fish the material out of the drain trap. It may take several tries to get it all out of the drain. Most of the material is probably hair, with some soap and skin mixed in to the mess.
Reply:The advise given is some of the ways it can be done. Since no one else has mention it, let me remind you that because you used Drano in the beginning please use safety glasses and rubber glove if you decide to continue the effort on your own.

I have done apartment and condo maintenance for well over ten years, I always was appreciative when the tenants informed me of what they used before I started my job.

One Ear Clogged?

This is my first question and I'm not even sure it's in the right place. It will seem pretty silly if it isn't, so let me apologize in advance if I'm asking in the wrong area of yahoo.

I woke up one morning and my right ear was clogged. It was weird, but I fiddled with it and it unclogged right away. This didn't happen every morning, but enough that I decided to get some over the counter ear drops thinking it might be wax. The drops seemed to make it worse! I made an appt. with an ENT Dr, but they can't see me for two weeks. So my regular Dr. gave me prescription drops over the phone. That seemed to make it even worse again!

It doesn't hurt at all. It just feels like someone dropped Crazy Glue into my right ear. There's a ringing and I can't unclog it even by fiddling with it.

My main question is if this is serious. I'm half read to go to the ER. This has never happened before. I'm also imagining that a bug might've gotten in my ear! What else could it be? Thanks.

One Ear Clogged?
it is HIGHLY unlikely a bug crawled in your ear, but fluid OR earwax buildup could produce the symptoms you are describing. IF it's fluid, an OTC antihistamine MIGHT help. it's worth a shot. i've no idea if u are an adult or younger, but is there someone else u can discuss this with? if it gets worse, or any other symptoms crop up, i'd call my dr. AGAIN!
Reply:My ear Dr. told me the only thing you should put in your ear is a drop or two of olive oil about once a week q-tips have a way of getting wax to harded with dry skin and become clogged I been haveing this problem all so ear itches or after shower q-tips lead to problems.
Reply:i had that problem last month

and i have it again

i waited for about 1 week it drived me crazy

and finally it popped one night

i cannot wait for a week to come by

its nice to know im not the only one

it will drive you crazy trust me
Reply:It's probably wax. Ear drops alone aren't going to help much, I don't think. They'll probably do an ear wash with water. You might want to go to urgent care.

I've had it before.
Reply:if you've been swimming or perhaps in a bath or shower it is possible for water to get trapped in the ear canal making it 'blocked' and it can stay in there for days and days. ive always known it to come out of its own accord eventually. doesnt sound too serious at all.
Reply:sounds like a super wax build up. and if the drops are making it feel worse .you need to call your doctor back and tell him.if your not happy with his advice, by all means go the the E.R.you might want to try flushing it with very warm water (not hot) it may take a couple of good flushes to brake up the blockage, but if there is any pain stop and get you self and ear to the E.R.
Reply:The last time this happened to me, I tried the Murine EarWax Removal Kit, available OTC at any drugstore or WalMart. It didn't cure me, but when I got in to the doc, it took just one quick squirt of water,%26amp; I was fine.,. The nurse said it went well because the attempt I had made had softened things up %26amp; gotten them all ready. Since then I have kept these on hand.If you can't stand the wait, go ahead %26amp; visit Urgent Care. It probably is not necessary to see an ENT--your family doctor should be able to flush your ear.

Help with clogged sewer lines?

My wife and i have had the issue a couple of times, our sewer lines are bad and about every 3 yrs they clog and back up into yard , we have clean outs that is where it backs up into.

in the sewer lines is a belly of some sort that builds up and causes issue.

my question is , is there a chemical i can put down the sewer or clean out that will eat or disolve the toilet paper and build up?

Help with clogged sewer lines?
The closest that comes in a chemical to what you need is an enzymatic cleaner. The problem is they take a bit of time for the enzyme to do break down biological material so if you use it as a amaintainance measure I would feel that it would pass through the lines before it reacts with the buildup. Also the enzymes used don't break down paper.

I think the best method would be either a snake or high pressure water cleaner.
Reply:ever heard of a plumber?
Reply:sounds like good ol tree roots to me.....the belly issue is of some concern as well. if the line has a dip in it bad enough to cause problems it needs dug up and replaced and put on grade. if tree roots are your problem, have the drain roto rooted and flush some copper sulfate down the toilet every night befor you go to bed. That will kill the roots (and possibly the tree) that's causing the problem.
Reply:you might want to invest in a a "snake" that will move through the tubes and dislodge whatever is clogging your outdoor pipes. You will have to get a significant length but it's the same type of metal "snake" that you see the professionals use. You can get it at a hardware store.
Reply:**** dont go there tell your wife its her girly rags that are blocking it and get her to do it , it usually is .Or if they are drains shared with neighbours its the waterboards problem good luck stinky

I have tried scrubs, but clogged pores are visibile again a couple days later.

I have clogged pores, they are nasty. Nothing I try seems to get rid of them. Any suggestions?
Make sure you wash your face every night before you go to sleep and then again in the morning when you wake up. Have a clean face at all times is the key for flawless skin.

Scrubs are good too, but not too much. Only scrub your face 1-2 times a week. If you overscrub, your face will get senstive.

Also, drink lots of water.
Reply:St. Ives apricot scrub bemish preventing one white bottle blue top also neutrogena daily blackhead eliminating scrub
Reply:St. Ives has a line of facial scrubs. The apricot one works best for clearing pores and getting the gunk out. After that it's great to use a cleanser to clean deep down in the pores after they are unclogged. Try not to use makeup with oil bases. Covergirl has coverup that is based on water instead.
Reply:my skin is super sensitive too.. i still get really bad pimples and (im no teenager) if i dont baby my face.. first of all you might wanna try PROACTIVE i hear its the best thing out there for bad skin

but ive had to go to the natural store to keep my skin pretty much pimple free i buy a natural soap called CALENDULA its a baby soap comes in an orange box.. can check your local natural stor for it i go to DAVIDS NATURAL to buy mine in the MD area.. i wash with that and then use alcohol.. might sound crazy but my skin is so sensitive that i actually have MUCH clearer skin when i wash with the kitchen sink water and not the bathroom. (more chlroine in it which kills bacteria.. theres a stong smell of it thats not in teh bathroom sink water ) might not be a difference in the water where u live but try and see if you get a difference in your skin.

thats all i do and my skins stayed pretty clear
Reply:Rubbing alcohol on a wash cloth, scrub the hell out of your face!
Reply:pore strips work wonders. also you should use a daily scrub. and if that doesn't work then use blackhead clearing astringent. it burns but it gets the job done.
Reply:steam your face. boil a pot of water, remove from heat, get a towel. Put your face over the steam as close as you can, cover head with towel and sit 5-10-15 minutes. This is a great way to clean pores. when water cools down enough dip hands in and rub some on your face, scrub gently with towel, you may wash your face again with some kind of antibacterial soap if you wish, or use some hemrhoidal cream to tighten pores again
Reply:Biore strips. They do work. Your pores will get clogged again but it lasts longer than the scrubs.
Reply:How about going to a beauty shop and ask them, maybe you can just get advice if you don't want to pay.
Reply:I love Biore pore strips, the trick to get the most of the blackheads is to put some charcoal mask on (try Origins) to dry your skin and loosen the blackheads, then wash your face for about 5 minutes with warm water. Finally, put the pore strips on and leave it until it's really hard. Good luck! Oh btw, I use the pore strips for men cuz it covers more area and help clean the skin around the nose as well!
Reply:pore strips work.

Reply:Steam your face to open your pores
Reply:Hi, If you live in the U.S. or Canada I can recommend a product from a company called Arbonne. The only thing is they only deliver in these two countries. They have a line called Intelligence and my niece who is 23 really likes it. It is a 5 step system, but it really improves the complexion. I personally use their NutriMinC RE9 line and I use to have really big pores, but not anymore. You can view their products in their online catalog at http://www.wonderful.myarbonne.com Good luck to you.
Reply:Oh, you mean blackheads? Try Blackhead Remover by Biore. They are adhesive strips that you can peel off your skin. It's supposed to remove the debris from blackheads. You may also consider switching to make-up foundation that is "non-comedogenic" if you haven't already. It means non-pore-clogging.
Reply:Lower your fat intake drastically and your clogged pores will disappear within 2 weeks. A diet like Weight Watchers, LA Weight Loss, etc. will do the trick and if you don't need to lose a few pounds anyway, just eat more of the foods they approve of. Your additional fat should be 2 tablespoons of olive oil, but other than that, eliminate all other dietary fats and you'll be amazed.

Sag Paneer clogged my plumbing. Any idea to declogg?

I dumped some Sag Paneer in to my kitchen sink.(about a gallon) Now the drainage is clogged. First I tried liquid plumr half gallon. Did not work. Then tried 3 gallons of liquid bleach. Nothing happened. Then again I tried 1 gallon of liquid plumr. Still no way out. Any idea to help this stupid me out of this tragedy?

Sag Paneer clogged my plumbing. Any idea to declogg?
Use a plumber's snake. You can buy them at any hardware store or plumbing supply shop.If that doesn't work, (unlikely), rent a power snake (electric).

That will clean it out for sure.
Reply:If there isn't a garbage disposal, take the trap apart ,put a bucket under it and clean it out with a opened coat hanger and re-assemble. might need new gaskets and watch for leaks.

Or there is a aerosol can that blast away clogs I have used before and would try it first, and a plunger, and boiling water
Reply:Liquid Plumr will not work. It can damage the motor. Did you try running the garbage disposal? There should be a switch on the wall somewhere that will run it.
Reply:First of all you should not try to many chemicals all at once as it can be toxic.

Wearing gloves and opening windows and door for proper ventilation, hold a bucket under the sink and open the drainage if it can be opened. The content will fall into the bucket. Keep your face ( use a mask to cover your mouth) away from as it will be mixed with the liquid plumr you have used. Close the pipe and try running water, if it is still blocked, try putting a little drano into it , run water for a little while, close. then leave the room. IF you feel you can't do this , then bring in a professional. Next time dump food into the garbage not the sink .
Reply:yes, dissassemble, clean it and assemble back carefully and you have got it , easy does it

besides why pouring toxic chemicals by gallons down the drain literally? it is amazing how much of all this stuff are people able to use up unnecessarily on daily basis. some people can wash a couple of plates and quater of bottle is gone, some people prefer to unclogg a kitchen sink with several GALLONS of bleach and stuff rather than try to remove the clogg, who cares. do you realize it is poison and that it doesnot dissappear into thin air after it leaves your home? 4and half gallon for one clogged sink, omg LOL

if you cant dissassemble it, which is unlikely, or next time you get minor problem with it, try sodium hydroxide pellets - put in and wait for about an hour, repeat if necessary (a handful will do, not half ton)
Reply:who asked you to push it down your sink

you could have thrown it in the bin anyway try calling someone to fix it cos its thick and paneer pieces might be blocking the passage
Reply:remove and clean the drain trap.

use a shop vacuum to REMOVE the stuff clogging the pipes.

a snake only breaks it up to possible get stuck elsewhere.

in the future do not dump things down the kitchen drain.

if it is a messy liquid, use the toilet, it is made to handle chunks and will not clog.

My obgyn says it's clogged milk ducts...but how do I get rid of it?

Question : my obgyn says it's clogged milk ducts...but how do I get rid of it?

Question Details: He always tells me there is nothing that can be done but there has to be something. Maybe one of you have heard of this before. He says its just my milk ducts that are clogged. But it's been like this since I was 12...now I'm 22. And it looks like pimples and you could even "pop" them and puss would come out. But I can't get them to clear up and go away. And it's very embarassing for me. I've tried clean and clear body wash, blackhead scrub, and just body wash. Does anyone know how else I can get rid of this?

My obgyn says it's clogged milk ducts...but how do I get rid of it?
Maybe a warm compress. But that would mean you would have to stay home and some what undressed on the top half of your body. One could use them for maybe 30 min at a time then dress and go about your daily activity. then do it again that night until it clears up.

I know when I was a kid and we milked cows and they would get what was called mastised(spelling) dad would take a very long needles and insert it into the tit an drain the extra milk off, one nasty smell but after a time it did clear up.

I take it in your case it is around the areo. To which I would go back to what I said early on a warm compress. maybe that will help.

My ears clog when I'm on the plane! Help?

We go on a trip nearly every year, and every time we go my ears clog up really bad. I can't hear anything, and I get a big migraine too! Its really hard to deal with. Has this ever happened to you? Any suggestions?

My ears clog when I'm on the plane! Help?
For take-offs and landings (the WHOLE way up, and starting from the BEGINNING, or TOP of descent), the best ways to alleviate ear pressure are to:

*Chew gum

*Drink something

*Suck on a hard candy or mints

*Yawn

*Pinch the nostrils shut, take a deep breath in through the mouth, then force the air into the back of the nose (gently) as if trying to blow your nose

*Place hot damp towels (usually like the ones distributed to first and business class before take-off and landing to freshen up with - just ask a flight attendant for them) or paper towels that have been soaked in hot water and wrung out at the bottom of two paper or styrofoam cups, then hold the cups over the ears.

*Another trick that used mainly on babies and small children, but can be used on anyone, is to gently but with some pressure, rub your neck repeatedly from the chin to the base of the neck. This will cause a swallowing motion that will relieve pressure build-up in the ears.

You can also try using a decongestant. It is always best to check with your doctor before using any type of medications though, to make sure you are using the one best suited to your needs. I personally have found pain relief medications don't really help people, and at least in my experience, decongestants are a waste of money.

If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me.
Reply:Close your mouth, stop breathing and swallow. That always works for me!

If Diary clogged pores, can steam + accutane speed the healing process?

I just found this wedsite that goes into great detail on why dairy causes acne (http://www.acnemilk.com/the_no_milk_acne...

one of the things they mention is how long it take to get under control because of the dairy buildup and how in the beginning you should nix dairy completly at first.

I tried the no diary diet for a month not realizing that it would take a few more than that, but this past few weeks I was having yogurt and organic milk (I usually drink soy milk, but I didnt think my sister would finish it by the time we head back home from school). Anyways, I've dealt with acne for a long time now and Im sick of it. I want to go on accutane BUT until then Im going back on teh no diary diet.

What I want to know is, if diary does some serious clogging like the article says do you think if I steam my face I can speed things up?

which in turn makes me wonder if that will make the accutane treatment shorter?

If Diary clogged pores, can steam + accutane speed the healing process?
honestly, my mom was all about the whole anti-dairy thing. it really didn't help me to clear up at all. if it were as easy as all that why do my vegan friends struggle with acne? i used to have that really deep acne, in addition to oily skin. honestly it really has to do with hormones, sodium, stress and so much more.

accutane is pretty hardcore. it helps but is a pretty harsh product. i worked for my brother in law but it was an intersting process. while he was on it he had excessive facial peeling and frequent nose bleeds.

i tried everything but accutane. i did the non-dairy, proactiv, birth control etc. the truth is, there is no miracle cure for acne because everyone and their skin is so unique. i became absesssed with wanting clear skin.

what finally worked for me was drinking lots of water, the frequent cup of mint tea. avoiding fried foods and cutting bacon out of my diet. i eat less shrimp (also high in sodium). really water is the main thing here.

then 2nd thing that really helped me out was exfoliating. i now use those scrubby facial sponges. way better than any scrub or exfoliating face wash. now my skin is really soft too.

i use clinique's facial wash and lotions. i understand that they may not work for everyone but i can't complain here.

bottom line for everyone-

lots of water, no oily fried foods and exfoliate

Celery has clogged my sink garbage disposal. What do I do??

I have been cleaning out, by hand, as much as I can. I can't feel any more celery, but it is still clogged. What can I do?

Celery has clogged my sink garbage disposal. What do I do??
First of all stop putting celery in the disposal.

Secondly Drain opener will NOT harm your metal pipes unless they are already corroded or rusted, a plumber told me they used it to find small leaks because it will open up a small leak caused by rusted or corroded pipe to open up. So it will not cause damage to metal pipes in good shape it only increases the existing damage to rusted or corroded metal pipes.
Reply:use a commode plunger on it. it always fixes mine as long as it is running.
Reply:carpenter is right
Reply:Don't panic unnecescelery.
Reply:you shouldnt put anything fiberous in your disposal. like onion skins celery garlic skins this kind of material will cause it to clog up. At the bottom of your disposer there should be a hole so that you can stick in a allen key or hax head key. it should of come with one. if you dont have one then go to a hardware store and buy one. it should be in the plummbing section. use that key to try to rotate the the motor and free it from the stuck position. Next check to see if the reset button needs to be pressed.
Reply:You may have to disassemble the pipes because most likely it's all clogged down in there too. All you took care of was what was in the disposal. Draino and the likes is not tough enough dissolve all that.
Reply:gross... first of all.. you should dumped them in garbage instead of trying to dispose it!!

what you got to do is.. go out and buy drainol or sink disposal fluid from grocery store..

becareful to make sure to follow directions or it can seriously ruin your pipes..
Reply:You need a set of allen wrenches.Under the sink unplug the dispposer, unsing your hand clean out all the debris you can.On the bottom of the dis. unit you will find a little button ,this is a reset for when the motor trips, push it.Again under the dis. unit in the center you will find a hole, find the correct size allen wrench and turn until the blades free up.Plug unit back in and give it a whirl if it does not work repeat all steps, there could be more stuff in the unit. If it still does not work chances are you need a new unit. Those are super easy to install!

Who can clog up their nostrils to not taste/smell things without using their fingers to pinch the nose?

I'm not a fan of veggies, but I eat/drink them to be healthy, when I do i clog up my nose nostrils. I know a lot of people who can, and a lot who can't do this. Basically it's the same as when you use your fingerse to pinch your nose closed, except you just do it without fingers. Similar to breathing out of your nose, you just breathe with your mouse. Who can and cannot, and how can it be that hard, seems natural to me. Also for when I don't want to smell things (ie: public bathroom smells while I'm walking). I'm curious

Who can clog up their nostrils to not taste/smell things without using their fingers to pinch the nose?
yea, I do this so I can chug my bottle of Jagermeister on the weekends! I've gotten quite good at it! :-) You don't have to actually close the front part of your nose like you would with your fingers, unfortunately I can't explain how I do it, It's just like holding your breath
Reply:I do that all the time. I just stop breathing through my nose.

I have clogged pores!....I think.?

I think I have clogged pores under my eyes and on my nose. They aren't that bad....just really tiny bumps..and some of them have sort of a black tint..I want clear smooth skin! Is there anything I can do with the supplies I already have at home? Or what would you recommend at the store? I don't have oily skin.

I have clogged pores!....I think.?
use a good face mask! ever you can go to the shops and get a good one such as superdrugs mud masks or if you want to use something from home mix honey and fruit together and put it on your face for about 10-15 mins!
Reply:here's my own home-made "pore strip" recipe. Its super cheap and way more effective that those expensive brands!only a few of my friends know this so consider yourself lucky..LOL! :)

what you'll need:

1 pack of knoxx gelatin

onion skin paper (use the really thin kind for best results)

hot water

mix the gelatin in a few spoons of hot water until you get a paste like consistency like honey . dont get it to thick or too runny. you can reheat it if it starts to thicken. just put heater or a bowl of hot water under it.

then spread a thin layer unto the os paper and apply it to your face like a mask. or you can just cut out a portion of the paper to fit the areas you want to cover.

wait a few minutes to let it dry, and gently peel the mask starting at the bottom edges in an upward motion. and there you have it clean and unclogged pores!

(look closely at the peeled paper and you can see those icky whiteheads all over it like tiny spikes! LOL

make sure to wash your face thoroughly and cover it with a cold towel to close your pores. you can also apply some toner or cucumber juice to help tighten your pores.
Reply:one way to get a smooth complexion is take a little salt sugar lemon juice if skin is dry instead of lemon juice go for milk cream make a paste and apply it on ur face don't let it in ur eyes after a few seconds gently massage wash off ur face and see the difference u cld do it daily in the beginning then maybe 2-3 times a week
Reply:Take a clean hot wash cloth on your face before you wash it.

Repeat it (heating it in micro for double warmth)

Wash with a pure soap and exfoliate - then add a toner. (witch hazel)

Exfoliate twice a week and once a week do a deep cleaning pore mask -

Always wash face twice a day. You can do the wash cloth trick as often as needed.

I always suggest pure and natural products (think about what you put on your skin as it goes in your body)

Burts Bee

Aveeno

Nutragena

Foot problem - clogged sweat gland?

I developed a very small pimple like white bump on the ball of my foot. Very painful when touched and to walk on it. Went to foot doctor, he told me I had a clogged sweat gland, and there is no cure! Has anyone ever had this and what did u do?

Foot problem - clogged sweat gland?
If the problem is that of an obstructed sweat gland, I would be very surpised that your doctor, did not inform you, that its a very benign condition, and generally, it resolves by itself.

However, since it is located in a poteltially painful area, you have several options:

fisrt, get your doctor to refer your case or a "local freezing" with liquid nitrogen

Painless, costless, does not hurt, the little plmple will fall off in 2.3 days

Or, get your doctor to prescribe to you, podophylline 5% and use it cautiously (an instructive comes with it) to cauterize it apilessly, with several applications (normally 1 week is more that enough).

Also painless and the treatment is quite cheap.

Nothing wrong will happen to you anyway, dont worry.

Mineral makeup clogging poors??

Bare Minerals shows in their commerial the ingredients found in normal foundations. They are waxy and nasty goop! They explain why mineral makeup is so much better. But are all mineral makeups the same and natural? Sheer Cover uses concealer. How does theirs differ? Also, most mineral makeup has SPF. Doesn't that Clog pores and cause breakouts? I've tried 6 different mineral makeups, but I'd like to know which one is really healthy. RAW minerals by Natural Beauty sells their face primer. But it has seed oil, shea butter, xantham gum, cera alba (Beeswax), and many other oils. How could I use this without breaking out? They claim that it actually minimizes and closes your pores so that the mineral makeup DOESN'T go into your pores. But other people say, the mineral makeup NEEDS to go into your skin to make it healthy??? Confused??

Mineral makeup clogging poors??
I tried a couple different mineral makeups and they use bismuth oxycloride, which made me have an allergic reaction. I found out that its a metal filler. That isn't healthy for your skin. I know, I'm not much of a help, but I wanted to share my experience.
Reply:Nothing can actually close your pores, so that claim is false. Mineral makeup is inert meaning there is nothing that can grow bacteria or stay in your skin and cause pore blockage. Oil-free formulations of regular concealers and foundations also will not clog your pores. Mineral oils and silicones can clog your pores which may or may not be in your products. If they say non-comedogenic that means they contain no ingredients that can clog pores. Not all oils clog pores - think of tea tree oil which is great for acne. Mineral oil is the worse offender.

The BM commercials are a marketing ploy to get people to use their products. Mineral makeup stays on top of your skin, protecting it from the environment. It contains SPF but that is in the form of titanium dioxide, which does not clog pores and is a natural mineral. Most foundations with SPF (including liquid ones) get their SPF rating from the titanium dioxide.

As for a primer, I would stick with an oil-free version. I like Smashbox Light Primer (the white one) because it is oil-free and great for sensitive skin.
Reply:I found that Mary Kay's Mineral powder works best.It has vitamins A,D and E.As a powder it is supposed to sit on top of the hairs on your face not in your pores. The concealer is probably what is cloging the pores, hense the word conSEALer.

Washing your face with a cleanser and wash cloth both morning and night will help out your skin and your pores will love you for it.

Can a clogged pcv and fuel filter cause a car to die out?

yesterday i was doin 50mph and my engine just died out so when i pulled to the side and stopped the car it started up right away what can this be? shitty gas maybe? clogged fuel filter and pcv? because the mechanic said everything looked ok battery is new alternator is fine starts up right away to...

Can a clogged pcv and fuel filter cause a car to die out?
The pcv won't do that - all it does is return crankcase vapors to the intake. Lots of cars don't even have them anymore, they run a sized line with restrictor.

I've have dirty battery terminals, a loose battery connection, a hot short in the distributor pickup wiring, and an empty tank cause this. If it keeps doing it under the same circumstances, you'll be able to pinpoint it. A clogged filter or fuel sock would more than likely have stayed that way - and you have to wonder what would clog it that can survive gasoline.
Reply:A clogged fuel filter will do it or there is a screen on the fuel pump that might have got a little clogged up but the first thing I would start with is the fuel filter it needs to be changed every 50,000 miles
Reply:Well first off what is the year of the vehicle? There is alot of thing that can survive gas and clog the filter dust is one of them. I work in a fuel testing lab and this usually is the prob. 99% of the time.
Reply:Depending on when fuel filter was last changed this may be the problem also PVC calve if plugged should be changed as both can cause engine failure. Both should be changed at 50,000 miles or so. Good idea to change air filter every 10,000 miles or less.

Kitchen sink clogged, when running disposal water runs fine, when disposal stops, water shoots back into sink?

Our kitchen sink is holding water because of some sort of clog, it eventually clears with time, but very very slowly.

When we run the disposal the water clears out quickly and it sounds like the disposal is working. However, when we turn the disposal off, the water rush back into the sink (literally shoots back out).

The dishwasher is storing a bit of standing water too.

What is happening and how do I fix it?

Kitchen sink clogged, when running disposal water runs fine, when disposal stops, water shoots back into sink?
You have a clog far down in the pipe. The disposal acts a bit like a pump when it is running so it is forcing the water into the drain under pressure. That is why if "shoots back" when you turn it off.

The clog is likely too far down the drain pipe for any remedies like draino or hot water or bleach to work. About all that can reach that far is a snake. If you don't know how to use one or don't have access to one you will need to call a plumber.

Parakeet has clogged vent...what can I do to help her?

It seems that one of my parakeets has a clogged vent. The poop seems to build up around the area, until I soak her bottom in warm water and remove it. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Thanks for your help.

Parakeet has clogged vent...what can I do to help her?
Try a little glycerin and swab the area with a cotton bud (Q-tip)...suggest changing diet also...it seems that something is cause abnormal droppings in this bird...if you give it greens, then perhaps that is the cause.
Reply:I would say you need to change your birds eating habits i think its something to do with the food its eating but if your concerned at all i would go to your nearest vet just to be on the safe side hope this helps.
Reply:Try to clean it with a cotton swab like above, but be gentle!

Is this a female? If it is I betchya she's egg-bound. (sex can be determined by color of the cere, or like the nose area above the beak. boys are blue, girls are tans, browns, reddish) I would definately call a vet - they can be very helpful, even just over the phone.
Reply:If it were me, I would be concerned about this. Your bird is so small that a short time with an illness can be fatal.

Open, closed, clogged pores?

Does cleansing open pores?

If you cleanse and don't use toner, does it allow junk to get in making it clogged?

Help... Idk if I should start using toner or not

Open, closed, clogged pores?
Cleansing definetly opens up the pores cos it clears the skin surface of dirts and oils and that helps the skin breathe better.

Toners help freshen the skin. Whether we use toners or not, some junk will get in cos the face is exposed to them daily. However, cleansing and toning help reduce their effects to a barest minimum if used twice daily and consistently. So i'll advice you start using one......Mary Kay toners work well. They have diff options based on your skin type. U'll be glad you did.
Reply:Toner helps to get down deep into your pores to help pull the stuff out. cleansing just kinda of gets surface stuff, toning gets deep down. its a good idea to tone after cleansing, it pulls the stuff down, %26amp; then makes them smaller. thus reducing not only the chance of stuff getting in, but the appearence of large pores, too. for more help, go to your local walgreens %26amp; talk to the beauty advisor there, they'll help you pick the right one for your skin tone, %26amp; answer any more questions you have.
Reply:toner helps freshen your skin, it clenses deep down inside your pores. i would start using a toner twice a day.

♥aly
Reply:The purpose of Facial Toner and the toning routine is to promote elasticity of the skin pores and stimulate the skin's metabolic breathing processes. Whilst the cleansing routine is a physical process, the purpose of toning is to stimulate the skin's own self-cleansing capacities and healthy cellular renewal. Efficient and elastic pores mean effective waste and toxin elimination. Vital renewal of skin cells promotes a healthy skin condition.

toner has an important function as it serves as a bridge between the cleansing and moisturising routines and acts as a carrier for the moisturiser to penetrate deeply into the skin with its essential ingredients. This ensures that full benefit and therapeutic value is extracted from the selected moisturising product.

Nose is clogged....?

ugh man it is annoying....

what can i do to stop it?

sometimes i can only breath through one nostril even if i blow my nose, eventually it goes away but tit comes back a while later...what can i do with it? i probably have a cold but i want it to go away, so what can i take or do? aalso my sinus is a little clogged.

Nose is clogged....?
I would use a nose spray but for no longer than 3 days. Also, take an over the counter decongestant like Sudafed Non-Drying.
Reply:Take Clarinase, it's a non-drowsy formula.
Reply:Take a over the counter decongestant.
Reply:You have a sinus infection. If something over the counter doesn't help, ask your doctor for a RX antibiotic called a Z-Pack(Zithromax). They make a generic now, forgot the name, but works the same as name brand and costs about $23. It's great for respiratory infections and works for me everytime. Take 2 tablets the first day, then one a day for the next 4 days. Feel better...
Reply:You can try over the counter cold medicine; you could also be suffering from some kind of allergy. It would be better if you consult this problem to an EENT (eye, ear, nose, throat) Doctor who specializes in that field (if this problem persists for a long time already).
Reply:When you're older, a couple of shots of Chevis Scotch is a nice de-clogger. If it doesn't work for that, at least it eases the pain.
Reply:I would try ocean nose drops or even take a dip in the ocean if you are near the beach. If you think that you are getting a cold then you should make yourself some fresh ginger tea.
Reply:I really like the answer from the nurse who thinks she can diagnose you from what you've said.

It is POSSIBLE that you have a sinus infection, but I don't think she can say definitively that "You have a sinus infection". And, apparently, she comes from the school of thought that whatever ails you can be cured by throwing antibiotics at it. That's not always the best bet. If you do indeed have a sinus infection, then antibiotics like Zithromax would probably help. However, if you didn't take the antibiotics, you would most likely get better anyway, although it may take a little longer. Throwing antibiotics at every sniffle that comes into the doctor's office is how we managed to breed antibiotic-resistant bacteria like VRE and MRSA.

Some more definitive questions for you: Are you running a fever? Do you have yellow/greenish discharge from your nose? If you answer yes to either/both of these questions, then I would be more inclined to suggest that you MAY have a sinus infection.
Reply:Horseradish, just a touch on tounge, will start to clear you up quickly. if your bold enough 1/2 teaspoon.
Reply:mucinex - it's over the counter,( wal-mart ) I have had great results with it. Good luck.
Reply:You can do a nasal wash - dissolve kosher salt (it's less harsh) in warm water to make a light saline solution. Hang your head over a sink and gently pour the solution into one nostril, forcing it out of the other nostril by forcing air through system. Repeat same procedure from other nostril. Clears passage ways, sinuses, head... takes a bit of practice, so don't throw in the towel if it doesn't work right away.

You can also try a dab of Vicks around the clogged nostril, or rub on your chest for vicks fumes to rise up.
