Pipes clogged?

We flushed our toilet, and the other toilet flushed at the same time! Then the bath tub filled with water that is black, but not stinky that I've noticed. Do you think my septic clogged, or the pipes connecting to it?

What should I do.

Pipes clogged?
Ugh, we just dealt with that. Our septic was full, and our drain field is bad. Is it slowly draining back down out of the tub, or is all the water staying there? A good drain un-clogger is to dump baking soda, then vinegar down a drain, followed by boiling water. That'll blast a clog out of your drains. Give that a shot first. If that doesn't fix it (you may need to try it a few times), then I'd call a septic pump company. Sorry, I know how bad that sucks. Good luck!
Reply:if you haven't had septic tank pumped lately, get that done, alot of times it's stopped up in baffle of tank and getting it pumped will normally fix problem, if not, you can always call plumber out afterwards
Reply:In the basement there is a "y" with a removable plug on that pipe that heads directly to the septic tank. You can remove that plug with a wrench and take a look in there with a flashlight and see if the line is open. Id suspect it is as this is a very large 6 inch pipe which doesnt clog easily.

Probably your area has been rather rainly and the finger field has flooded out. If so take you laundry to the laundromat and avoid usage of water as much as possible.

The really bad culpret for Septic tanks is that Laundry water loaded with Chlorine and detergent. It destroys bacteria in the tank and floods out the system.

You can have a 4 x 4 hole dug in the back yard and run your laundry water right into that hole which is filled with rock and topped off with grass. That has solved many a septic problem and I myself have that rock filled hole to dump my laundry water into to save my septic system.

By the way, a septic tanks needs to be pumped about once in 5 to 10 years. The bacteria eats eveything up in there if working properly.
