Kitchen sink clogged on both sides?

My sink is clogged on both sides , I do not have a garbage disposal and can't get to the store tonight for draino, Does anybody have a home remedy to get unclogged tonight.

Kitchen sink clogged on both sides?
you can try plunging it, it may free the clog

also try disconnecting the trap, it may be clogged there

good luck
Reply:Well the likely place for the clog is in the "P" trap; and with all due respct; can you remove it? Beyond that; without knowing the substance or manner of the clog; adding toxins to the sewage disposal system might not UNCLOG the sink at all.

No offense meant at all, but a good lesson in what NOT to allow into a drain.

Have you a pair or Lock Jaw Pliers? or can you borrow a pair? They would help loosen the P trap connections.

Reply:Just open the doors underneat, and there is a p trap , disconect the fastners by turning them counterclock

wise, and u will find the p trap to be clogged. just clean

it out and reinstall.
Reply:See if anyone has a plunger for you to try and use. Sometimes a few good plunges will help dislodge whatever is clogging the pipes
Reply:Do Not Take the P TRAP OFF!!!! until you have plunged..... Don't listen to these radical people.!

With a little help from a friend to hold a stopper in one side of the sink as to not plunge water form one bowl to the other. Hold a stopper or rag or something in opposite sink as you would like to plunge, this puts all the plunging force down to the clog. The best way to plunge is to gently push down all the way and in a quick jerk action pull the plunger up to suck the clog up the pipe and then release the flow of water to force it back down the drain.

If you remove the P TRAP the sinks will empty onto your floor or if you have a bucket or two you can TRY to catch the most of the mess but Good LUck!!! Removing the P traps is a last resort when you have a snake or Roto Rooter . Just Plunge the heck out it.. And Lastly chemical drano is a waste of money. If you want something that really works and is safe and cheap just pour straight bleach in the drain and run super hot water after awhile. Drains will stay clean for a long time then.
Reply:Usually a dual drain sink has only ONE p-trap. If you have a plunger, take a rag and cover one sink drain, and plunge the other drain. Push the plunger down slowly, and pull up swiftly. Going fast in both directions will only pack the clog tighter. I have gotten many dual sinks unclogged without the need of a drain snake. If plunging is done CORRECTLY, it often works.

If you don't have a plunger, take apart the p-trap with channel-locks or pipe wrench. Clean out the p-trap.

If you don't have wrenches, try a mixture of vinegar and baking soda into the drain, with hot water you bring via a pale, from another sink. Don't try to get hot water from your clogged sink because it will overflow before it gets hot.
Reply:Here is a simple remedy that for the most part works just as well as "draino" but a whole lot cheaper and most people already have it in there home! Ready? Hydrogen peroxide! Yep the stuff in the brown bottle that is used to dissinfect cuts. Scoop out as much water as you can(preferably all if possible) . Then pour about a quarter of the bottle down each drain. Allow to sit.

You will hear a fizzing/gurggling sound coming from the drains. it eats away all the corosion, hair, food, and germs in the drain and is safe for both the pipes and the water.
Reply:Since you specifically state that BOTH sides of the sink are clogged, that pretty much indicates the problem is AFTER the traps. Therefore the only solution is to have the drain line snaked. Trying to plunge a double sink is fruitless unless you have a method of preventing the water you are trying to force down the drain from coming out of the other side of the sink drain. Besides, sinks are vented after the traps and the pressure you apply will just vent out the vent.

Draino or snake the line. Take your pick.
Reply:boiling water and washing powder; wait for 15 minutes, then use a rubber plunger.
