Almost a month ago I felt my ears clog up bad(like when u get rly high up in the air in an airplane). It was like horribly clogged so then in the shower I turned my head and made water go in and out to clean out any ear wax. I went to the doctor and he gave me anti-biotics and he said ear infection. After a while my hearing came back but it was not as strong as it used to be. Today the nurse checked my hearing and I failed the test.
If I pop my ear by holding by nose, my earing is perfect for like a few minutes before it goes back to being clogged.
Please someone help.
PS: If this isnt the right section, I am sorry.
My ear has been clogged up for a like 1 month now, Can it be damaged?
You need to talk to your Dr. and tell him everything you posted here. They will give you the best answer.
Reply:i think that you do have an ear infection, but it is jsut worse that the doctor said. because i have had an ear infection and that is what happened with me, the feeling of ti anyways. So i believe that the reason why when you pop your ears its fine then goes back to normal is because liquid is filling it up. With ear medication what helps it best is when you lay down on the couch or bed, and put your medicine in and dont leave that position until the liquid is completely gone. if you do have to move put a cotton ball in your ear, that will help keep the medicine in, it will however absorb some of the medicine. Hope you feel better!
Reply:Hi, I had the same problem, I was told by my medical doctor that i had fluid stuck in my middle ear... anyway after that i went to an ear nose and throat doctor who gave me an test to check the pressure in the Eustachian tube, and i had negative pressure on one side, even when i popped my ear i woudl get dizzy but the doc put an ear tube in the ear, the pressure is no longer there it has helped alot, however it is not 100%, it lasts about 1 1/2 yrs in the ear, I have had mine in for 9 months, anyway at times it gets a bit clogged up with wax but i pop my ears and its fine... by the way try not to wet the ear the tube is in if you get it. i have wet mine too many times and i get a big clogged... try ear plugs.
anyway go to an ent and ask them to measure the pressure in your ear, its a painless test and it lets them know whether you have fluid in your ear... by the way antihistamines also dry up the fluid on the ear, i take claritin since all the others have ephedrine and that gets my heart racing, anyway hope the info helps, god bless and i hope you feel better, the test is callled Eustachian tube test is called tympanometry, below is more info on the 2 links i included, good luck
BY THE WAY ACCORDING TO MY DOCTOR YOUR HEARING CANT BE DAMAGED BY THIS, I HAD THE PROBLEMS FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS BEFORE I WENT TO A DOCTOR... YOUR HEARING WILL GET BETTER AFTER YOU GET THEM UNCLOGGED.
