Clogged the toilet...?

After washing my hands, I accidentaly threw the paper in the toilet. Now the damn thing is clogged like Ive never seen it before. Ive tried to use the plunger, I stuck my hand in there(with a glove) and i couldnt feel the paper...

What can I do? Please help, Ive no money for a plumber!

Clogged the toilet...?
it'll break down eventually, might take some time but it will, in the meantime, put a waste paper basket in the bathroom. And if you know how to use a plumbing snake that might help
Reply:take off the glove and learn how to drive a plunger, you might want to invest in a ridgid kollman closet auger. they are what i use when people w/ money call aplumber
Reply:Never throw paper towels, if that's what you did, down the toilet. They don't decompose as rapidly as toilet paper, which is designed to.

You may want to try pouring some hot water carefully into the toilet to help break up the clog.

Your plunger may not be strong enough to do the job. Make sure you aren't using a cheap plunger where the rubber is not rigid enough.

A "snake type" device would be the best for you to use. It's known as a "closet ogger". It can be purchased at any hardware store. I think they run about $20.00, and would come in handy for the future.

Or you may have to be patient, and hope the paper breaks down enough to go through the pipes.

You may have a tree root problem, that is being aggravated by this tougher piece of paper fiber.

It should eventually clear, but I know it's frustrating, because it's an item we just about can't live without!

Good luck!
Reply:You know its a 500 dollar fine to go to the bathroom outside but if you got to go you got to go.
Reply:Go to your local hardware or home improvement store. For about $20 you can buy a toilet auger. The auger has a steel cable with a spring attached to the end. You put the spring in the toilet and you turn a handle and it rotates the cable and spring which then frees the paper blockage.

Reply:Plunger and lots of hard work. If it was a paper towel, it should have gone thru once you used the plunger. Just keep at it, may loosen up eventually/
Reply:The paper should eventually break up; just give it some time and then keep plunging. You could buy this thing called an auger which is basically a crank on a long hose that you stick into the plumbing and it spins around to loosen the clog.

Good luck! : )
Reply:Put a good squirt of hair shamoo in the toilet. Let it sit for an hour or so. It should then flush. Works for us whenever we have a plug up!
Reply:flush it. i think it went down cuz u didnt feel it. and if its clogged just keep using a plunger. it will shove the water down
Reply:Rental stores rent a device called a snake. A hand one should do, don't need the power version. It is a round metal box with a handle on the bottom, a knob on the back and a coil in the middle. Pull the coil out, put into the bottom of your toilet and push in into the plumbing while turning. Keep feeding and turning until you get the clog cleared.
Reply:Get out the yellow pages and look for a tool rental company. Determine where the clean-out is. The clean-out is usually outside of the house and is usually no less than 3 feet away from the houses exterior. You need to estimate approximately how for the clean-out is from the clog. The tool rental places have something called a "snake" that can be rented for a few hours, a half day, or a full day. Prices depend on how long of a snake you need and how long you will use it for. Normally a 50 foot snake will work. Feed the snake from the clean-out towards the house first. If for any reason that fails then go the opposite direction (from the toilet). Do that ONLY as a last resort, as the snake could scratch the porcelain in the bowl. You should be able to fix this for under $20.00.
Reply:Run a garden hose with the nozzle set to a tight stream. Use the pressure from the garden hose to attempt to flush the paper down to the main sewer line. It sometimes takes a little bit of trying but beats a plumber.
Reply:The newspaper?
