Help, my kitchen sink is clogged?

One side of my double kitchen sink is clogged, the side with the garbage disposal. The garbage disposal is working fine, not jammed and running but the water level will not go down. The other side of the sink is ok, no clog. I tried plunging the sink but no go, the plunger can't even force water through the clog. Any answer would be a big help.

Help, my kitchen sink is clogged?
put the drain plug in the side without the disposal. Hold it in with your hand while you plunge the disposal side. Run some water in it first. If this doesn't work, you'll have to dis-assemble the piping under the sink and clean it out by hand.
Reply:this may sound radical, but fill the other (non-clogged) side of the sink FULL of water. Then pull the plug. The suction created from the water draining one side may pull the clog free on the other side.

Both sides of the sink drain into the same pipe under your sink.
Reply:If you look under your sink you will see that the drain pipe from the garbarator is attached with two screws. The hole from the garbarator at that point is only 1 in. in diameter. That is the choke point that anything large enough to get stuck usually does. Turn off the breaker then take it apart there. ( dont forget a bucket ) if the water pours out then you are sure it is in the pipe between the two drains, but I would bet the farm it is the at that point it is pluged. If you cant fish out whatever it is you can turn it upside down by just turning the lock ring ariound the top of the garbarator counter clockwise by inserting a screwdriver in one of the loops and turning it. To reinstall you just reverse the prosedure. It is great if you have another set of hands to help you if you need to reinstall as they are a little clumsy to hold and turn the ring at the same time.
Reply:Buy some drano
Reply:as gross as it is, you may have to stick your hand down the garbage disposal side and dig some food out. make sure the disposal power is disconnected before you do so.
Reply:put a wet wash ragin all the drains of sinks, bath tub, that connects to the same pipe as the sink pipe to the sewer then use the plunger. when u start to use the plunger, if all the other drains are covered u will get moe suction. GOOD luck! DONT use drain cleaner, they will ruin the seals of the garbage disposal
Reply:If there is a waste trap (U-shaped tube) in the sink drain below the disposal, unscrew the nut at the very bottom and check for blockage that can be removed from the trap. [Don't forget to [put a bucket under it before and to tighten the nut afterwards... I speak from soggy experience :-) ].

If that doesn't do the job, it's fairly simple to remove the entire trap with the right tools, and to check the connecting waste pipe between basins.. Since the other side of the sink works, and they're most likely plumbed together, an auger is not likely to be of help, but if you're lucky, and the blockage is in the connecting pipe, it can be removed with a coathanger. If all else fails, replacing the disposal and connect is not a big deal; but be sure to have the work inspected if you do it yourself.
Reply:call the plumer
Reply:turn it on while the water is in it and it will self destuckt the clog immediately.
Reply:If you dont have draino pour about half a gallon of bleach in.
