Clogged sink?

Hey I got a double sink that is clogged i tryed draino and plunger but both are not working? It seems that when i drain the plug side (not disposal side) of sink it drains as long as i have the plug in disosal side. But if i take the plug out of disposal side it drains into the other sink. Any advice? Also under my sink doesnt have a u shaped pipe? Thanks J.

Clogged sink?
Find your clean out trap %26amp; snake it with a plumbers snake. Or call a professional. I have never seen a sink with our a u shape pipe, but I assume that is to "catch" things. For monthly maintanance use drain cleaner(professional or industrial strength monthly to prevent clogs from forming%26gt;
Reply:Under the sink there is probably a "T" connector that joins pipes from each sink to a single drain pipe.

Get a bucket and put it under the "T" connector and loosen it. Let the sinks drain into the bucket. Remove the connector completey. If you have a plumbers snake, push it down the single drain pipe. When it reaches the clog try pushing the snake through the clog to clear it. If that doesn't work, you'll have to screw the snake into the clog and pull the clog out a little at a time. If the snake doesn't reach the clog, you'll need a longer snake or a plumber.

When you reassemble it, you should install the "U" shaped pipe (called a trap). This prevents sewer odors (and animals like rats, roaches, snakes, etc) from coming up through the pipe.

There is also a special "T' connector that prevents the water from one sink from backflowing into the other one.
Reply:Last chance before calling a plumber, is to fill the disposal side, put the plug in the wash side, and turn the disposal on. If that does not work, you will need a professional with a power snake.

The problem comes from the disposal. Unless you have modern plumbing, what you can put in the disposer is extremely limited. I have cleaned out potato peals, rice, and entire dinners that unsuspecting people have put down the disposer. Avoid coffee grounds, they will block up the pipe at the bends. Avoid peels, fibrous material, and starches. A disposal is only good for rinsing the plate into after you have scraped it in the trash can.
