Clogged shower?
Sounds like you got all the bases covered. Time to call in the professional.

He'll probably fix it in 30 seconds and charge some outrageous fee, but its cheaper than the damage that would have ensued if you pursued it yourself ;-)

The Toilet is on the main line. The sink and shower are NOT but are branched into the main. In this case the clog is obviously in the section of pipe between the shower and the main. If you can determine where the sink ties in and it is between the shower and toilet, then the clog is between the shower and sink tie in.

Now, unless you have one hell of a big bathroom, it is not 20 feet from your shower to your toilet, or the main pipe below it. This means you are not using the snake correctly.

If you have a basement, go down and tap along the section of pipe with a screw driver or wrench. The man said TAP not pound the **** out of it. The pipe will sound different where it is filled with water(above the clog) and where it is dry (past the clog) Mark the clog. Measure. That's how much snake you need. Add a foot. (Cause in this case size DOES matter) Use a hook ended snake (an auger, technically) and SCREW it into the drain from the shower. It will catch and grab whatever you have been poking at with the other snake. Pull it out. My money is on: Kid's toy, wash cloth, sanitary napkin, pair of panties. In that order. I have found all of the above. Stop laughing!
Reply:You obviously know that a 'garden hose' will not work if the manual snake didn't.....so,

Go to Kennard's Hire and ask to hire an electric drain-snake. I used to work there so I know they have them. It is a lot more powerful than the manual one and it should come with different shaped blades that you can attach to the end of the snake. If it still doesn't do the job (which I doubt), make sure you tell the guys back at kennards because more often than not they will try and help you out financially or with another solution at a cheaper rate.

ps- if your drain is clogged by outside tree roots, unless they are small, the electric snake probably won't be able to get through them. Still I would advise ringing kennards and tell them your problem because it's part of their job to help you find a solution even if it means couriering in equipment from different branches(no cost to you).
Reply:Sounds like Roto-Router time.
Reply:Can you get garden hose down outlet ? Or can you get garden hose up from pipe at other end?Only other thing to put down there would be caustic soda. Usually dissolves most things.Watch your hands with this. Good Luck!
Reply:Perhaps CLR will work?
