Clogged up sink.?

My kitchen sink is clogged up, I'm pissed, I'm tired but, I don't know what I'm saying. ANYWAYS, if I turn on the garbage disposer will it splash water everywhere? I never tried it. I don't want to try it now cause the water is so dirty and I don't want to take another shower... Anyways, if I turn it on, will it splash water everywhere or will it just make little bubbles?

Clogged up sink.?
if the water is in the sink also it shouldnt splash to be on the safe side just hold a plate over top so it wont splash back at you
Reply:Use Liquid Plumber.
Reply:You have a garbage disposal why is it clogged is it your dispolsal is not working? or is the clogg in another area of your house connected to your kitchen plumbing.
Reply:Run the disposal, if that doesn't work, then the clog is somewhere else. Look under your sink in the cabinet. Your pipes should be visible there. If they are, you will see that the pipe, after leaving your sink, but before going into the wall, dips down and then back up again. More that likely the clog is in the part that dips down. I filled mine with potato peels once that I had tried to use the disposal for. You need to get a bowl or bucket that fits under the pipe first, to catch any water that will drain from your sink. Then, a lot of pipes like this one are pvc and they can be unscrewed by hand. Just unscrew and check out what's inside. The clog should be there. Then clean it out and put it back together. If this still doesn't work, use a mixture of baking soda and white vinegar. Pour the baking soda into the drain of the sink first, (which should be free of water if you've drained the pipe) then follow with the vinegar. It will foam up and help clean the pipes. Then flush pipes again with boiling water. If not, like the other people said, use drano or at last resort, call a plumber.
Reply:It will probably just churn and mix the mess, disgusting you further. I think I would bail out the sink first. Usually the clog is farther down the line. You may need to get underneath and snake out the line downstream of the disposer.

Good luck!
Reply:ya go for it. mine does that all the time bc it needs to have the disposer run actually. maybe shield yourself with an umbrella just in case. good-luck. :D
Reply:first thing you need to do is to make sure there are no spoons knives, forks etc etc down there first. splashing water everywhere is not likely. How much water is in the disposal? If you have a disposal you will need to learn proper care of it which means keeping metal, bones, plastics etc etc out. You should have a wrench for the disposal. If not, most hardware stores should have one. It looks like an allen wrench. this way you can put the wrench in the hole that is underneath the disposal and turn the disposal manually. If it turns easily with no clunking noises then it should work fine.
