Clogged Vents or Broken Dryer?

My dryer smells hot inside (but not outside) after running a load and the clothes feel quite hot to the touch. It also takes a long time to dry a load. I made sure the lint filter is clear and I pulled the dryer away from the wall and vaccumed out the back of the dryer vent and as far into the wall as the hose would reach (not very far as there was a bend). The flaps on the vent on the outside of house blow out almost perpendicular when the dryer is running so it seems to be that the ductwork is relatively clear (but I could be mistaken).

My dryer is almost 10 years old and has been put to good use (I have 4 kids). Is it likely that there is just a clog further down the ductwork that I haven't cleared out yet or does it sound like my dryer is wearing out?

Clogged Vents or Broken Dryer?
Depending on the dryer model, it could be the moisture sensor or thermostat. The dryer I have now has a moisture sensor that went bad and it was doing the same thing. But the maytag I had before it did that as well and after the thermostat was replaced, I was back in business.
Reply:The duct is probably still restricted.

You could try a load with the vent disconnected from the back of the dryer.

Reply:sounds like a blocked vent can you go from the outside to clean the pipe?---ugru
Reply:birds learn to open vent and build nest in the pipe. Check this out.
Reply:Try washing your lent filter, run it under the faucet and see if it holds the water, wash it with a little dish soap and sponge until the water runs through. After a while the dryer sheets/softner will clog the screen although you can still see through it, worked wonders for mine! Good luck
