Clogged Drain?

I dont have a snake at my disposal and chemicals arent working what else can i try to clear my clogged drain

If you already used chemicals, you don't want to put anything else down the drain. You could create a toxic gas by mixing different things...very bad.





Go to The Home Depot and rent a snake. I just returned a scaffold and it was $22.00/day. I can't imagine that a snake would cost even that much for a couple of hours.
Reply:if it is the kitchen sink allow the water to drain or take out as much as you can and pour several pots of BOILING water in this will cause any grease in the trap to liquify and allow it to purge same with the bath tub or sink
Reply:Do you know exactly where it's clogged at? If you do, you could always replace that part. You could rent snakes too. That is about the only advice I can tell you.......best of luck to you.
Reply:try a plunger but be very careful if you used chemicals because the chemicals can splash up back at you if they are still in the pipes

run water , warm water, lots of it





if it won't drain then the plunger





then open the trap under the sink





then throw that old nasty snake away and buy a new one (longer) for $15





try that





put the trap back on, if you know where the larger thing to unscrew is , try that,





then plumbers for $100
Reply:Sometimes, before I call the plumber I get out the toilet plunger and put some water in the sink, if it is the sink, and plunge over the drain, try to create a vacuum or suction when doing this.
Reply:What kind of chemicals are you using? More than likely what kind of clog is it? (kitchen it is probably grease or build up shower or lav sink it is probably hair) Home Depot sells this stuff that is a hair eater, it comes in a black bottle inside a thick plastic bag basically light grade hydrochloric acid (they have the same thing in a grease formula), it is really acid so wear some gloves and glasses. Drano rarely works for me so I stay away from it, but this other stuff works everytime. If that doesn't do it you may just want to break down and buy a small snake some of the smaller ones sell for around $10 and up. Also if you are on a septic make sure you use something that says septic safe.
Reply:They now sell a thin piece of plastic that's does the same job as a snake, its sells for around $5 but it's only about a foot long so the clog can't be too far down the pipe you should be able to gt one at your local hardare store.
