Help with clogged toilet?

I think I clogged my toilet because I used paper towels to clean up after my puppy but since she goes so much I didn't flush until several were in there and now it's clogged. After awhile the water goes down some, and I try using the plunger but it doesn't seem to work, I'll try flushing again and the water comes all the way up again, etc. Anyone that can help?

If you dont want to pay a lot for a plumber... you can go purchase a drain auger from a hardware store like homedepot. They cost about $30-50. Have the salesperson to explain how to use it. Its a flexible wire device you stick down the drain and push the paper clogging around the bends of the drain that make the toilet work.
Reply:It's a little messy and you should see if you can find some rubber gloves first. Straighten out a metal coat hanger and bend the end into a small hook. Pull the messy paper back out and just throw it out with the garbage.

Allthough a plunger is called a plunger it is not used to plunge. The correct and most efficient way to use it is to force it down once, then hold, let water seep into the bottom side of the plunger, then quickly force the plunger upwars. This causes the water and anything in it to come backwards, and then flow throught the pipe the way it should. I am surprised at the amount of people that don't know this. Allthough forcing watever is stopping up your toillet by plunging sometimes helps, other times it only makes it worse.
Reply:Ok rule one, do not put paper towell down the toilet. but now that it is to late, you probaly should go get your self a closet aggure, they arnt that expensive, and to have a plumber do it for you will cast 150-350, the higher one is the cost of my complany,





judy be carefull, if used wrong a closet aggure can scratch up your toilet and make it look like crap,
Reply:gravity and force can work. get a two gallon bucket, fill it with water, and at the same time you flush the toilet, dump the water. it usually works. just in case, put some towels on the floor first!!!
Reply:Plunging will probly do it if you use the plunger the right way, as the other answerer said. The trick is to get the plunger working right,





Push the plunger down and hopefuly lots of bubbles will come out, you don't want much air inside the pluger, then rapidly move the plunger up and down just a little bit. This sends hydralic shock waves down the pipe with great force and the adjitation will break up the block. Because you say that water flows throught the block, even slowly I am confidant this will work, just work away at it, and remember, you should be able to feel like you are pushing and pulling on something if you don't you probly have too much air in the plunger. You don't have to move the plunger a whole lot if the air is out of it, just up and down about an inch or 2 maybe 1 time per second for 30 sec.
Reply:go to home depot and buy what they call a toilet auger. its a metal cable with a ball on the end you crank it into the toilet. it breasks up paper pooh much better than a plunger

Bail out as much water as you can.


Pour liquid drano into the bowl, take your plunger and lightly work it into the toilet, then take a pot of hot water and pour it in, close lid. and listen.





There is a internal goose neck in the toilet.
