Plumbing help for my clogged bathtub?

my bathtub is clogged, the sink runs fine and the toilet flushes fine. here is the layout: bathtub, sink, toilet. the tub has water in it right now, when I turn on the sink the bathtub bubbles, when I flush the toilet the bathtub does not bubble.

what I want to know is the pipe between the tub and sink clogged or is the pipe between the sink and toilet clogged since the bath bubbles when I turn on the sink.

I want to determine this so I dont waist time taking apart the ptrap in under the sink to snake.

Plumbing help for my clogged bathtub?
In all likelyhood you have a hair clog just past the tub shoe (where the water should drain) If you use a plunger you must cover the overflow drain so that you are not wasting your time blowing wet air out of the overflow. If that doesn't work try a wire coat hanger. cut or untwist the hanger and use a plier to make a small hook on one end. run the hook down the drain a few inches and twist then pull. This should come up with a clot of hair. I've had lots of success with this method.
Reply:Try a plunger in the bathtub first. When using a plunger it works best if there is a couple of inches of water in the bathtub. Then push the plunger down gently and pull up briskly. Repeat several times and you may clear the clog without the need to remove the trap or use a snake at all.

Do NOT put any chemicals in the drain until you have tried and failed with a plunger. The plunger is much more effective in most cases but it is dangerous to use on on a drain full of chemicals.

Reply:remove the chrome cover plate on the over flo drain near the top of the tub, jusr under the spout. You can use a metal coat hanger to try and see if there is a clog in the line, but it is better to use a drill mounted snake, that you can buy for cheap at a hardware store. Install one end of the snake into the chuck of the drill. Next put the other end of the snake into the over flo drain opening and slowly work the snake up and down into the pipeing. Most overflows on tubs are 1.5 " pvc piping and you will only have to navigate around a few 45 degree pvc fittings in the wall.

hope this helps
Reply:Most drain clogs can be worked out with a good plunger.

Try this. Place a wet rag over the overflow drain on you tub. It is the 3" round shiney plate just under the tub spout, on the underside of it is an opening to allow air in. Put this rag over that opening under the bottom edge.

Now take your plunger and put it over the tub drain - While keeping the rag tightly over the overflow drain, push up and down on the plunger over and over with hard thrust down. This will work the clog loose. Keep doing this over and over until the drain clog clears.
Reply:Try using a plunger on the tub, but first put the stopper in the sink so you are`nt sucking air from that pipe. If you can get the tub drain screen off or the tub drain stopper pulled up, you will get more suction from the plunger or you may luck out and find your clog wrapped around the drain screen screw or under the stopper.

Good Luck!!!!
Reply:Scoop the water out of the tub. Boil some hot water and pour that down the drain. Immediately after, pour down Draino or any other drain cleaner. If that doesn't work I would reccomend calling a plumber.
Reply:'One Second Plumber", available in Canada (and maybe other countries)., is fantastic at unclogging drains etc.
