I have been breastfeeding my baby for 3 months. a week ago i had a clogged duct (which i've had before) and took numerous hot showers and used massage for a few days until it disappeared. now i have a small white spot on the nipple that is sore. could this be the "clog" just under the skin? Any suggestions?
Breastfeeding with clogged duct and white spot?
This is called a "bleb" basically its a chunky bit of milk. You need to get it all out so that the duct can drain. Some say to take a needle and pop it, but I could never do that. I use tweezers to pull it out and then express a bit to make sure its all gone.
Ugh there used to be a page with a good picture of it and I can't find it!
This is the best I can find now:

Reply:I had many white spots while lactating and they did not coincide with a blocked duct. I believe they are normal and will fluctuate in size depending on how full you are.
Reply:I had one of those and i read to clear it up by popping it like a pimple. It worked for me, but it hurt like crazy.
Reply:check the baby's tongue.. if it white..and creamy .. the baby might have thrush and have transferred it to you.. it is kind of an infection and has to get treated.. It could make it hard for the baby to feed as well..
Good luck
Reply:It could be a start to yeast infection also and or a clog. I would see a la leche specialist or your doctor for more help. Ouch
Reply:That's very interesting. Ask your doctor.
