Need help. I may have a clogged ear or maybe a nasty ear infection. At first (Friday to be precise), it's just pain. I tried to clean my ear but nothing. The next day, after waking up I felt like my ear is clogged. When I try to clean it again, there's a lot of fluid and wax. I can only sleep soundly that night if I could manage to ease the pain before sleeping and stay in one position while sleeping. Then this time, the middle part of the ear is clean, but I can still feel something clogging in the inner ear and a lot more pain. Is there a cure for this? We're also going to have swimming lesson tomorrow in PE class. Can I still swim with all this clogging and pain, or am I excused? (I believe water pressure might just make the pain or even the whole situation a lot more worse)
Is there a cure for clogged and painful ears?
Go to an ear doctor. I did the same thing you did...waited an endured the pain. The end result was a busted ear drum...2 surguries and 60% hearing loss in the ear. 10 years later my other ear went bad..fortunately I was smarter and only lost about 10% in that ear. Hearing is important...be smart...see a doctor.
Reply:I think your ear canal is clogged up! If you go to the doctors as I did, they'll give you a lemon slice to suck that opens your canal from your mouth to your ear which is blocked up. They then insert a probe which pushes the blockage and breaks up the obstruction or sucks it out, whatever! anyhow the pain was gone! and no recurrence a great day.
Reply:Ouch! You could have swimmer's ear and/or need to have your ear irrigated, which doesn't hurt at all, I've had it done before to remove wax.
Take time off from swimming until you get it looked at.
Reply:No, you CANNOT swim.
But, ironically, it sounds as if you have something known as "Swimmer's Ear", which is basically an infection caused from trapped fluid in your ear canal. You need to see a doctor to get an anti-bacterial to squirt in your ear, but you can reduce the pressure and intensity right away but using hydrogen peroxide.
Simply dip a q-tip or something in hydrogen peroxide and swab it around your ear for a bit, or even pour a little in, just be sure to pour it out. If you have a SEVERE infection there may be an exploding sound that causes extreme pain for a moment, that's pretty much the bacteria dieing or the infected tissue getting dislodged from the healthy tissue.
Once again, see your doctor for anti-bacterial ear drops, but hydrogen peroxide helps to flush out the ear right away.
