Kitchen sink clogged. what products could i use?
drano works very well on cloggs.
Reply:If you have a clogged drain and cannot run out to the store to get a commercial drain product, try this remedy.

1) Remove all water from the sink. You may have to dip it out of the sink with a cup and place it in a bucket.

2) Pour one cup of baking soda down the drain.

3) Follow that with one cup of table salt.

4) Next, pour one half cup of white vinegar down the drain.

5) Allow the drain to set for ten minutes than flush it with two quarts of boiling water...
Reply:Draino works very well with clogged sinks, thats what I use when this happens.
Reply:See Tayle's answer. Plus after you empty the sink, remove the U bend underneath. Flush that with boiling water( over another sink/bath/toilet. The replace and continue as above.
Reply:Go out and buy a drain snake. You can get a 25ft snake for about $20
Reply:hey, i remembered a camercal that showed this two in 1 thing. i forgot what it was called, but yah. srry if this answer dosnt help, but if i remember it i will let u know.
Reply:drano works very well.

How do I remove a clog from the drain?

I have a hair clog in my shower drain. I stopped using my shower and just started showering at my moms or my bf's house. However, she still shower and shaves there. The hair is just piling up and getting worse. How can I break up that clog without paying for a plumber because I can't afford it?

How do I remove a clog from the drain?
If it is really clogged up badly, I don't know whether this would work or not. The lady who assists with my housework introduced me to banking soda and vinegar. Her instructions are to put baking soda in the drain and pour vinegar over it. If that doesn't work, I am sure places like Home Depot and Lowe's have solutions for it. Good luck.
Reply:Pour half-a-bottle of clorox into it. It should dissolve whatever crap is clogging your pipes.
Reply:There is a product called Drano.

All you have to do is pour a cup full of Drano into your pipe and leave it for 10 mins or so then rinse out..
Reply:I used to be a plumber, there are many options. The best is to take the drain cover off, and put a hook in the end of a coathanger and stick it down... try to hook that hairball. Another option is to pour coca cola down there, the phosphoric acid will dissolve the calcium in the hair overnight like it dissolves your teeth and intestinal lining. Another great option if those don't work, oxy clean breaks down organics and may aid in breaking it up, draino will only shrink and harden it to the pipe walls, but extreme pressure may shove it along, air or water, you may try a garden hose on it. Boiling water from the stove will dissolve the grease from the soap that has bonded the hair, rubbing alcohol may also. Well if you still don't get it write mikefromspace at yahooooo
Reply:Caustic Soda will do the trick. Good luck.

Kitchen Sink Clogged?

My kitchen sink is clogged, every time I run the garbage disposal it will come up on both sides. The only thing that went down the disposal was mac and cheese. My husband put some drain remover down and said it didn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks

Kitchen Sink Clogged?
snake it
Reply:where's the clog?

if you just run water in the sink, does it go down?

if yes, then the clog is in the disposal or the line connecting it to the sink.

(i doubt that the problem is in the disposal, but it doesn't hurt to check.)

if water stays in the sink, you could use a plunger in the sink.

you'll have to plug up the disposal while you do it, so that air does not come up and down through the disposal.

just put something over the hole, or in the top of the hole -- you don't want to lose a dishcloth down into the disposal.

put water in the sink until it backs up, then use the plunger.

(I'd use hot soapy water.)

it might be a good idea to check the trap first, and make sure it's tight.

if it's not, or if it's weak, using the plunger can break it or pop it off.

i'd put a bucket under it so that if there is a problem, you catch the water and not spew it on the floor.

when you use the plunger, if you bring up large wads of yucky stuff, maybe like hair, get a paper towel, fish 'em out, and put 'em in the trash. in the future, when you're putting stuff down the sink, think about whether it might cause a clog. you might also keep in mind that a sink clog is easiest to fix. if it gets farther down in the plumbing, then you'll have to call a plumber, and pay to get it fixed. (when this means is, "Be kind to your plumbing." it's very forgiving, but it does have it's limits.)

i personally don't like drain remover. it cannot be good for your pipes.

good luck.
Reply:You might need a wet vac to suck out anything in the sink that hasn't gone through the disposal yet. Check the trap underneath the sink and remove any clogs. You might also need a drain snake. You can get one for like $10 at Home Cheapo.
Reply:well noodles, rice, stuff lke tha is the worst for drains. especally if they are dry. they expand and clog the drain. then when you run a snake thru the line the noodles are like sand. the snake goes thru and comes back out not movng the noodles as if you put a finger in sand when you take it out the hole refills itself. call a plumber
Reply:take the pipes under sink apart, try not to get burned or hurt by the drain chemical you poured into the sink. if the clog is not in these pipes you will have 2 choices. rent a drain snake or hire a plumber to snake it for you. caution, by the time people call me to fix their sink drains, they have wasted money on drain cleaners, super plungers, snake rentals, i actually would have saved them money, time, and a huge mess if they would have called me and quoted me first.
Reply:Don't use drain opener in a garbage disposer, it will dull your blade by corroding them. Use a plunger Have someone hold the other sink plug and plung as much pressure back and forth and pull and pop the last plung. Try and pour boiling hot water down it a few times before and after it opens. Watch out for splashing, wear eye and hand protection because of the acid in the drain opener
Reply:don't use draino type products in the garbage disposer, dishwasher, or toilet! don't you read the instructions before you use things? and another thing, don't put pasta or potato peels or grease down the disposer in any quanities! it will fill the drain pipes and cause a clog as you've found out. either the hubbie or a plumber will have to take the drain pipes apart and clean out the drain now.
Reply:have hubbie remove the P trap, your mac-n-cheez is prob stuck in there! while the trap is off and if nothing is in it then you can run a stiff wire further down the drain. if that doesn't work then you must snake the whole line.

Severe skin discoloration due to clogged pores. HELP!?

I went through a period of terrible self-hygene, and it resulted in me being left with a "ring" around my neck, that was from dirt and oils being ground into my skin,in the style of how blackheads happen. there ARE NOT blackheads, and cannot be popped. it appears as though i have taken dirt and smeared it around the circumfrence of my neck. my nose is soemwhat the same,i basicly have every pore on it clogged. i have tried and failed to get rid of the clogged pores on my nose, and though the skin on my neck IS lightening, its still quite noticible. aside from washing every day, using astringent, cleanser blahblahblah, have you got any ideas oh how to help? i really want my hair supershort, but cannot get the courage to do so untill this problem is taken care of.

and i dont have alot of money to go buying pricey stuff, and before you say it,proactive IS too expensive for me.

Severe skin discoloration due to clogged pores. HELP!?
First of all, start a regimen you will stick with. Cleansing, and exfoliating. Morning and night. Facials are a beautiful thing, but I understand you don't have the money right now. Even steaming in the shower while exfoliating will help. Doing extractions on yourself is not a good idea, you can scar if you don't know what your doing. Stick to this and I think over a period of time you will see a difference. You already know the problem, this is the first step.
Reply:Go to your dermatologist. They have meds to un colg pores and they have machines to do it.

And what have we learned from this?

WASH YOURSELF
Reply:The best thing to dissolve the ick in pores is a product with salicylic acid in the highest % concentration you can find. Using this along with regular exfoliation with a scrub or the pricier microdermabrasion will correct and prevent your issue.

You can go to any drugstore and find products with salicylic acid, the problem is that they will cost less because they have a lower acid concentration than products that cost more so you will be better off investing a little more in something that works than spending less on something that won't do the job.

I like the self-foaming cleansing treatment by Beauticontrol for $25 along with All-clear scrub for $14. These will last about two months.
Reply:Unfortunately my brother has this too. That ring around his neck, quite disgusting at times but it's better because he has a tan now. I would have to say... Go get a facial. Facials run from 25-40 dollars on average. You go once every two weeks. But the previous answer was right, try to go to a dermatologist. He/She may be able to give you some creams to help. Retin-A might help. Retin-A causes dry skin but that's because your skin is pushing out all the bad stuff, purging your pores and after a while it will get better. It takes persistance though. Good luck!
Reply:Neutrogena makes some very good products to unlcog pores, and also exfoliate dead top cells from the skin; making fresh new skin appear. Get on their site and take a look around at what is available; it is not expensive and should work within a month or so. It is sold at most drug stores.

Would a clogged filter on a furnace cause the high limit gasket to break?

They charged us a good deal of money to fix our furnace today and said it would not be covered by warranty as the clogged filter caused the problem. Can anyone in the know confirm? Thanks

Would a clogged filter on a furnace cause the high limit gasket to break?
yes a plugged filter will take out a high limit switch, it will drastically shorten the life of your furnace, can and will break heat exchangers---all of this is not covered by warranties because YOU are expected to A change the filter yourself, of B pay a contractor to do it for you
Reply:If you mean they replaced the high limit control, yes that could be caused by nor cleaning or replacing the filter. A furnace requires some routine maintenance to prevent this. For more info, check out the furnace page at my source.
Reply:It is possible that the reduced airflow arising from the dirty filter caused the plenum to overheat, cracking the gasket. But replacing a gasket should be cheap.

Left Ear Clogged - ENT wasn't helpful?

My left ear is muffled. I can still hear through it, it just sounds "duller". My ENT did an audiology test showing this. They cleaned the ear and it still is muffled. I did not know this ENT, and he seemed quick to dismiss my symptoms. He "guessed" it could be scarring tissue, but i'm a 20 year old male, and this only occurred last week. It feels like it would if you had a head cold and it's clogged up. When I yawn or swallow I can feel my "inner ear"/"sinus" trying to pop it but it won't, like it's not enough. I've tried Nasex, but it's not working. I'm thinking about going to another ENT or an internal medicine doctor. Any ideas?

Left Ear Clogged - ENT wasn't helpful?
sounds like you got some fluid in your ear.It might go away on its own
Reply:Your ear could actually be clogged i get those symptoms all the time. I go to my doctor and she just flushes them out. It may not be the problem but those are similar symptoms. Just get a second opinion!
Reply:Yes, I have the same problem now (and in my left ear as well) as I have before! Go to a general practioner, (do you have a family doctor) and tell them what you are experiencing. I would just about garauntee that it is wax build up in your ear, and although a bit "uncomfortable" a gp will remove that wax and you will hear good as new! ENTs get paid too much to admit it is something that simple and only want to deal with money making cases! Go to a GP, a family doc or just a regular medical doc and you'll be surprised by how much they help you!
Reply:I'd get a second opinion.

There are different types of viruses that effect the ear and can cause hearing loss. At times even, nothing actually shows up! There are also diseases caused by viral infections that effect the middle ear like minears disease and such.

Research your symptoms on WrongDiagnosis.com

Lots of helpful info there.

Hope things get better for you soon!
